Depends on your definition of "good" i suppose. NACRO, for example, was banned because enough people who'd paid for the privilege of an infraction button deemed that they should seal his fate. Utterly pathetic behaviour, but there you go, yet another example of how revealing an anonymous system can be, with all the attendant irony that involves.

To you, maybe. Not to me or many others. This place used to be vibrant. Controversial sometimes, granted, but worth visiting. These days it feels more like tartan rugs and Thermos flasks whilst watching the waves on the seafront. Nice enough, but doesn't leave any lasting impression. Banning people because they dare to be different is just crap, in my opinion.

Is it not just me that see's this move as a reaction to the place being so DEATHLY BLOODY QUIET nowadays?
even IF those banned WERE allowed back.. how long till they're banned again with the over -zealous moderation this place has quite often?

I could show you the pathetic infractions I received on Christmas Day of all days!! (one of which involved trawling back to a post I had made a full year before!!) But I can't be bothered. Needless to say I no longer have any interest in taking part in this so called 'community'.

I got an infraction for being Racist recently and by gum did i deserve it!
Nowt wrong with the moderation of this site, i may not like or agree with what moderators say on here infact one of them is a complete dick in my opinion but he never crosses the line when it comes to his moderation techniques.

Exactly. This move smacks of desperation. This site is dead. What the moderation team clearly still fail to realise is that they are the ones that killed it.

Publicly available viewing and you can see that the infractions were for recent posts, both on Christmas day, by yourself.
Can't quite see where trawling back to a post you made a year before comes into it myself, but hey why let the truth spoil a good story

Kieran, fwiw at a cursory glance at the first of those, i can see UB's issue.. SSU gets away with things time and time again (he and someone else were even calling for a banning for me recently ) yet anyone else gets censored or a ticking off of some sort

There were a few deleted posts at the same time - the one showing the infraction was the last one that tipped the scale. This is hinted at in UB's post.
Can we not turn this into a discussion regarding previous infractions - the Policy forum or PM to the moderation team is the place for that. I was only responding to a specific misdirection made by UB.

I think this is a great idea, I just don't think some of the expats will last very long if they get goaded by other users trying to wind them up.
Hopefully mods will keep a good eye on things and prevent this happening.

Dan you say people call for your banning; why? Look at your infraction history (only works in firefox). You have none, so why live in fear of that? Especially if the people calling for your ban have their records littered with them?

OK, If it was my forum, I'd get rid of SSU just for a quiet life. But as you say, that really would be over-zealous. And equally contribute to making this place quieter, once the protest from SSU fans subside. Catch 22.

OK, If it was my forum, I'd get rid of SSU just for a quiet life. But as you say, that really would be over-zealous. And equally contribute to making this place quieter, once the protest from SSU fans subside. Catch 22.
and mine is the fact as stated earlier that even if those bannee's (?!?) were let back, they wouldnt last long , and furthermore i see this merely as an excercise to try to gather some momentum in an ailing forum.
I truly believe the salad days are gone for this place, which is a true shame ,because it was one hellova funny place at times, when you could actually catch breath at the pace of the place.
As for your comments re the lifting of bans ? why do this? nowt against the people with bans , but as said they wouldnt last long if they came back, they possibly even wouldnt want to come back (water /bridges etc) but they were BANNED. be it a good/sound reason or not (or over zealous moderatin on the part of SDB etc to sell the site ) is down to the individuals eye on it.
I moderate elsewhere and tbh, a 1st ban is usually a week then follows a totting up type procedure (rings any bells? ) or ultimately dependant on the severity of the offence a lifetime ban can be enforced. IF a lifetime ban is issued then there is NO way back .
