It's not just the price of a Starbucks, Costalot etc, it's the fuel to get there, parking costs, door ding costs, the inevitable cake/muffin/sugary treat, the 'I'll just pop into ???'. That machine will actually save you a small fortune! In fact I might get two!

Does your upgraded machine make coffee as good as or better than Starbucks etc? I pay £1.95 for a latte (London ) although only buy a couple a week ...

However, as I can use much better (and obviously more expensive) beans if I wish - beans that I've selected to my taste, and also ground them to my taste - I can make coffee that is MUCH better.
I've made Americanos over the last few days that have tasted better than anything I've ever had from a chain coffee bar (independant coffee bars can be better). I made the wife a cappuccino last night which she said was one of the best she'd ever tasted...
There really is no further upgrade path for me, equipment wise... it's now down to skill, bean quality and roast.
It's got to the point that I'm now looking at water filtration and water quality.
Crazy stuff........
