We sell and fit a large number of Hybrid intercoolers and I am Hybrid Technical Adviser UK and Europe and Hybrid Pro Installer. The biggest cause of difficulties with the installation is a lack of fitting knowledge and this is understandable if it is the first time you have fitted one of these kits. The kits actually fit well but you don't have to make much of a mistake or overlook something to cause yourself all sorts of problems. For instance if the hard pipe running past the battery to the throttle body is a problem the cure does not lie with that pipe but with the previous pipe from the intercooler.
I am always happy to give technical advice to those that get in touch and there will be dozens of guys on this board that have had assistance from Darren or myself when they have experienced difficulty due to their lack of experience in fitting.
My price for the Hybrid GT is £270 and for the GT2 £290 and I am not VAT registered because my level of trade is below the VAT registration limit. This crap about VAT on IMPORTED goods is a red herring because I pay VAT at source whereas a VAT registered company offsets the VAT.

The current VAT threshold is a mere £186.30 a day turnover (not even 1 supply only intercooler kit a day, let alone fitted).

VAT Registered companies do offset VAT, but the amount payable in VAT is always greater.

HMRC:
VAT cheats

Some people deliberately avoid registering for VAT at all, thereby gaining an unfair advantage over their competitors. Others may not pay the VAT over to HMRC after collecting it from you.

You might know that a business isn't declaring all the VAT they're charging, or they may make you suspicious by doing one or more of these things:

* ask you to pay in cash and are reluctant to provide an invoice
* ask you to make the payment to someone other than the business
* ask you to make several different payments to different names or different businesses
* offer a discount for cash and are reluctant to accept cheques or credit cards
* offer goods for sale at substantially below market value
* put money into an open till drawer without ringing up a sale

If someone openly admits to you that they're deliberately not following the VAT rules, they're actually doing you a big favour - they're letting you know upfront that they're less than honest. You can now think carefully about whether you want to entrust someone like that with your money or with your car, central heating boiler, home extension or whatever else it is that you need to be worked on.

They're also letting you know that they are most unlikely to be planning on giving you any formal paperwork relating to the job, or even to record the job in their own records. If you have a problem and need to go back to them, they can simply deny that they've ever done the work at all - and many do exactly this. They may not have any insurance coverage for damage or loss to your property

So Bob are you saying all traders that are not VAT registered are VAT cheats? Once again you only post certain info to try and gain the upper hand.

Are we supposed to applaud the fact that you can do the maths on VAT or are we supposed to be impressed that you claim to make a mere £186.30 a day, everyday of the year.

VAT requirements
If anyone supplies more than £68,000 of goods or services in a year, and those goods and services are VAT taxable - that is, they should have VAT charged on them - then registering for VAT is compulsory.

Once someone's registered for VAT, they then have to charge VAT where it is due - it's illegal for them not to. Nearly all goods and services are liable for VAT, although in a very few cases the rate is reduced or even zero - and sometimes you may even be able to reclaim it.

And finally, once they've charged you VAT and collected the money, they have to pay the VAT over to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

Not saying that at all, they could well be turning over a very small amount (less than £186.30) per day. Profit will be a mere % of that.

The vast majority of traders on here are VAT Registered.

To be honest the amount of vat we pay on fuel alone should be enough for us not to pay vat on anything scooby related lol
