hydra nemisis or apexi power fc

For me there is no comparison from hydra to powerfc, the hydra is far more advanced/superior, you would be definately going backwards for me...
As far as the hydra software being 'clunky' im not sure what your talking about, for me the hydra is a doddle to map, its all relavent on what you are used to mapping.
I agree with shaun, its all down to the mapper and any muppet can map a car, but doing it properly takes alot of time, skill and experience.

IMHO people like yourself and Martin wont give the credit to the hydra because your not dealers and have a vested interest in promoting the simtec or solaris.
IMO a good mapper can map any ecu on any type of car

Hi Mus
I am sure the ecu is very capable and once mapped the car will perform well but the software is the main interface for the mapper and that is extremely clunky to say the least. I havent looked at it for the last year so i dont know if they have updated the software.
In comparison, the Simtek software is superb and the Solaris way better still.
It doesn't surprise me that almost no mappers other than Richard Bulmer will map them.

there are quite a few mappers that will map hydras, ie tracktive, edmy , and andy forrest.
now i can speak 1st hand about all these ecu's as i have had them all.
in my opinion
apexi = simple easy and gets the job done however if you want to run maf less then forget the apexi on most subarus as it is like findind a needle in a haystack, finding a de getro model.
simtec= ok but to get it mapped you have to get it mapped off a simtec dealer, if you dont then you have to pay a premium of about £120 for software. pay an extra 120 just so you can have who you want to map your car. in general probebly on a parr with the apexi
hydra= faultless in my opinon, it has data logging, 6 different fuel or boost maps(completely different maps not just different boost settings) , built in map sensor ( so you dont need to buy a map sensor at extra cost ), 32x32 resolution, all of these features the other two do NOT have.
hope this has cleared things up for you sensible ones

dont know,
if he is then it just shows how much profit there must be in it, if i can be quoted between 2500 and 2700 +vat, and simon can sell them for 1500 +vat mapped, and he is obviously making a good profit also. i find this astonishing

I have never had a Hydra but amongst the ECUs I have owned are Link, Apexi, Simtek and Motec. The Simtek is streets ahead of the Apexi.
Simtek are approximately £800-£900 plus VATfitted and mapped subject to what year car you have so a comparison with a much more expensive ECU has to highlight that. Yes anti lag and launch are a further £150 but still a long way short of the figure quoted for the Hydra.
The Simtek does not use a DOS based programme just as a matter of record but who cares, it does a good job at an affordable price which is why I have two of them at present.
