hey bud, the meeting was very positive, I am expecting a call back within the next 48hours. get back to all as soon as I know more.

Discount will be allocated on a case by case basis (rather than 10% for all for example) as every car is different and unique.

The following photos may be of use to those of you asking about porting headers.

The objective is to open the diameter of the entry port to match that of the head port or marginally more but it is not just a simple matter of bevelling the entry. Opening it too much and you will lose performance as will the wrong shape.
The headers must be ported as far/deep as possible to remove cast marks, all impediments to smooth flow and the shape and diameter of the port is critical to obtaining good flow and the shape of the ports in and out are different, to accelerate gas flow.
This is why properly ported headers give such good gains and coupled with a properly designed uppipe there are good gains to be had and especially the torque figures right across the rev range. Obviously one uppipe will not do a complete range of turbos from a TD04 to say a TD05-06 20G so it is important to match the appropriate uppipe to the turbo, spec and headers in use.
HTH.

Taking my headers off this weekend because the heat shields are rattling. Going to heat wrap them. Was thinking about porting, but not 100%. But would i need to modify the gaskets to suit the ported diameter?

You're not porting the headers to remove the crap Mark. You're actually removing the excess metal, as when compared to the head, the holes are much smaller on the manifold/header. Opening them up does the world of good, I noticed the difference very easily on my WRX and my STi. Great mod IMO

Thats helped me make my mind up. Thanks Harvey speak soon

If anyone else is considering it, Harveys Labour rates for fitting are also very reasonable and worth the trek imo.

With a change of uppipe flow rates can improve by 18-19% and this is why more fuel is required. More fuel with more air = more power.

We never alter the gasket on a normal application. Sometimes the collector has to be opened out subject to application.

I am not trying to dissuade anyone from porting their own headers but pointing out that going for too big a diameter is a bad thing. There is a set of overported headers in my scrap bin now. Any gains are welcome, especially if they only cost your own time but to get the best from the porting is a complex matter and something learned over a long period of time.

Carbon from the combustion process does not build up to replace the metal I remove. Something far wrong with your engine if it is making so much carbon that it cokes up the exhaust manifold.
Next time you examine a collector you will notice the carbon build up is very smooth, generally even in transition and thin.
Results do not support your theory. Ask numerous people with my headers fitted.
