Not footing it at all, half throttle if anything. Keep the revs bellow 2k revs and never really let it go above 2.5k. I'm doing 40mph in 5th gear I can't smell the petrol. My classic used to run rich but not as bad as this and you could smell it. I'm not sure if this makes a difference or is of any help but it used to pop and bang, it doesn't any more.

I found it a bit hesitant a few days ago but could have been wrong rev range so its more then likely my driving because I'm getting used to the car. I did have the timming belt done and thats when I filled up and reset the trip computer.

I'm free most of the time. Just let me know when its convenient for you.

Thanks guys

PS sorry for the late reply just started the night shifts

Sounds like you could be labouring the engine to much to me.. but it wouldn't explain the fuel economy being that bad, but the 02 sensor would!

You have a WRX right? So 5 speed box? I'd be doing 40mph in 4th. Keeping the revs below 2krpm will not save you fuel, it will just labour it more. Between 2-2.5krpm seems ideal for cruising speeds in a WRX.

I have only just started doing that to get better economy when going to work when its busy. Other wise I don't use 5th gear. I wanna enjoy the car. I was but the way its drinking is worrying me because I know it shouldn't and that could mean there is a problem with it.

Could it be that because I have filled up so close of each fill up that I have had a bad batch of fuel. I always use the same petrol station and always use Shell V power.

I would have taken it to MVS Automotive but its too far and there isn't any garage that specialise in Subaru in Birmingham that I trust due to experience that family/friends have had. Would you take your car to Alum Rock, I wouldn't you could be sat in Dixi and then see some asian 'cuzy bro' razzeling your car down Alum Rock RD.

And I know I have STI badges on my car but I can proudly say its a WRX with some mods. I'm not trying to make it something its not lol

I'm not criticizing dude, you put whatever badges you want on your car, I was checking it's a WRX as obviously the gears are much longer on it's 5 speed than an STi's 6 speed, so 5th in an STi is not too bad at 40mph, but you using 5th at those speeds in a WRX is like an STi using 6th at 40mph.

Either way, keep the revs up a bit more, fuel economy is worse the more load there is on the car, if the revs are too low, you are increasing the load and therefore making fuel economy worse.

I think the splitter may have to finally be taken 'round the back of the shed and shot :[ It's had a good innings though even with such a hard life.

I know you weren't mate sorry if it sounded that way. Its just I had someone on one on one of the other topics going on about them and didn't want you to think I was trying to be a show off or hide what my car was lol

Don't worry as soon as the fueling gets sorted will have it in 2nd gear doing 40mph lol or higher.

Sorry H just seen your message its probably too late to txt you. Oh because of my night shift forgot to add car was parked up over the last few days and the needle was perfectly on the last section line. When I went back to the car a few days later the needle was in exactly the same place. Had to drive the car to great barr because a mate of mine had some axel stands. As soon as I started driving and the car was warmed up you guessed it the needle decided it was going to move lol.

Got it up and I had a look and so did my mate (he is a quillified mechanic but was made jobless and is working at matalan with me). Neither one of us could see anything. So I still don't know lol.

But ramp VS axel stands would show more and make it easier to look. Will have to take you up on that offer.
