Cheers for that. Progress is steady and I am slowly getting back to normal. The hospital are impressed with what I have achieved so far, still have lots of medication and tests but full recovery which I was told would be 12 months is now estimated at 6-9 months. My short term memory was shot to hell but improving now. For instance I spent quite a bit of time looking for my phone a few days ago and it was "lost" only to find it was in my trouser pocket.!!! Frustrating. I am fully mobile and drive but concentrating on complex tasks can be exhausting. However I have put some of the time to good use and am completing the design of another uppipe.
Hammerman : Yes I had mistaken you for Clive. Sorry for the confusion. I will get some "trick uppipe" photos for you for the GT2 Spec 3 bolt headers as sold by RCMS, Lateral, API, myself and others. I am just perfecting a trick uppipe specifically for use with the GT1 Spec 2 bolt flange that some people still use. Both uppipes will greatly improve spool, crispness and torque over the standard supplied item with the advantage that the slip joint reduces stress on the header set therefore reducing the possibility of the headers cracking and particularly on the 2 bolt reducing the possibility of blown gaskets at the header to uppipe flange.

Help, bit worried about a problem I had tonight.
Slight overheat tonight my00 classic
So me the mrs and kids went to my folks house for tea in my00 uk turbo. Drove it sensibly obviously with the kids in the car. We were almost home when i stopped off at the local shop leaving the engine running and had a chat for a couple of minutes with the shop owner. The car was facing down the hill which is quite steep. Got back in the car and noticed the heat guage was quite high up, not on max but not far off. The car has never moved from the middle reading before so worried as i was i drove round the corner and parked up on my drive and it was back to normal. Am i right to be worried? Please help!

Farley, I see on facebook that you let the missus drive the car.... Maybe it was throwing a wobley in protest and manifested itself as temp issue.

Well seen as the car was hot last night I left it til today not wanting to scold my hand opening the header tank! Got to work at 9am and felt like rubbish (god damn head cold) so went home at 10.30! I opened the header tank to find it was quite low so decided to slowly top it up. It took a kettle full eventually after topping up! So I ran the engine and kept watch as I squeezed the rad hose to get airlocks out. The coolant got up to temp and I put the cap back on. You could see the coolant right at the bottom of the expansion tank but still not inbetween the E and F readings. I did notice at first that the bottom rad hose wasn't very warm at all but the in car heaters would still blow red hot. Looked for any leaks while pressurised but couldn't see anything. So I thought I'll go for a quick drive. Pulled over and the bottom rad hose was now warm. After a couple of mins the fans kicked in so no problems there. The temp gauge was fine so I drove home, left it running for a few mins and fans kicked in again and temp gauge still fine. So basically it turns out I must have just been low on coolant.
I did ring Mark from TDR on the way back from work as he built the engine and mapped it and he said it could possibly be low coolant due to a small weep that I haven't spotted, and that it wasn't the thermostat. He also said to check the fans and as I say they were fine.
The problem I have now is where has the coolant gone?? Any Ideas? I do recall that when I checked the coolant last week that the car was on a slope.
That thought did cross my mind mate. Although I ain't telling the Mrs that!

So bid as low as you dare. Personally I wouldn't go above £1000 as the car will end up too expensive if you do.
He's selling it 'cos he's already done that equation and figured the car isn't worth it.

Why would the bottom end blow?
I've done hg on other cars and never had
The engine go bang after
Never done a boxer engine though, why would it be different?

Bank on doing the whole engine, as if you just do the head gaskets, the bottom end will blow within 4 weeks.

Well I'm 24 with 7 years NCB no point etc. I've had the STi for 4 years now, had only Imprezas before too. The prices I am currently getting are a good £300-400 more than last year. With most companies telling me I have to be 25, Birmingham is a bad place for insurance prices etc.
Our guy at A-Plan as nice as he was, wouldn't tell me the prices as he said they were ridiculous and so he won't embarrass me by telling them to me. But whatever they were they apparently weren't competitive at all. Seemed like a nice guy though, I'd definitely recommend giving him a call.
Even the insurance for the Peugeot has gone up too. I did expect both to go up, but not this much. O well, I shall keep shopping around. Doubt I will get it any cheaper, but worth a try!

Yeah no surprises, I'm 27 no points 10 years no claim and paid circa £800 last year with moley @ Keith Michaels. I'm just outside brum, he said if I had a B postcode he wouldn't touch me with a barge pole! Tried all the usuals Adrian flux I take it?

Yeah moley wouldn't touch me last year. Need to try him again this year. To be honest I tried quite a few places, but have still got more to try.
Flux is cheapest so far, need to ring them though to see if they can do better.
