Newage WRX Modification HELP

As trev mentioned, the ported headers help with turbo spool up and torque......just PM Harvey on here as he's very well respected
As for the STi intercooler......it's actually one of Subaru's finest LOL, never forget that your car has been built to the lowest bidder. Turbo's work best with cold air at high pressure, the STi intercooler has a low pressure drop and is very efficient
It's no use having a Turbo cramming air into the intercooler at 1.4 BAR and it trickles out at the other end boiling hot at 0.9 BAR
For not much more pennies Harvey might be able to fit an FMIC for you ............around about the same time Bob "Guru" Rawle is visiting with his ECuTeK Stardust

Missed the post on the 317 BHP being maxed out for the WRX......
Most mappers will set the car up to be as safe as possible given the circumstances, I think that's pretty reasonable if Pat thought det was creeping into his mapping, particularly if he thought there might be problems with cooling the charge over a wide range of intake temps.

Your turbo has probably potential for 350 bhp max with no CAT in the uppipe but you need all the supporting mods to get there. That includes ported headers and matched uppipe for best application with this turbo.
I would ask your chosen mapper to comment on your spec and give his views but we have Bob Rawle here regularly and with your spec and the ported headers and matched uppipe, I would be disappointed if we were not close to 340 bhp on V-Power and 1ml/litre NF.
A quick inspection of the car if you are in proximity to Darlington and I can easily confirm that or make any other suggestions.

Hi all! Just reading this post and thought Id give my little bit of input.
Iv got a 2001 WRX too.
I went for . . . .
VF34 Turbo
De-cat up pipe
3" HKS right through
550 pink injectors
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
STI TMIC (I still need to find a scoop undertray )
KnN Panell filter in standard box with that big air ram
Live mapped with Steve Cotton at Cot Comp Grastang with Ecutek
I wont say where I had the car mapped before, but after I got the car back from Cot comp the engine sounded alot quieter, the pull was alot stronger and boost was smoother too. Top Job Steve!
I had it on the rollers and got 315bhp and 298ftlbs. (Still without the STI undertray that puts a decent seal around the intercooler)
A few months after I had a day at Oulton Park on track. My friend at the time had an Evo 6 with 350bhp (with several RR printouts) and I kept with it!
There was nothing in it at all!
He even got in my car a few days after and said mine goes through the gears alot quicker than his Evo.
The VF34 Really does spool up quick, so I was wondering if the RR I took mine on was right or not??
Wer all happy days here either way and it sounds amazing with the origional headers and up pipe.

you should find an improvement across the entire rev range but notably the car will pull much harder up top end. The more well chosen supporting mods you have the more the mapper can do.

Well i have just had a shot of a an STI 03 plate Mapped by andy to 338bhp.
Adding STI intercooler + Undertray + Harveys headers/uppipe and a Andy Forrest Map to my car
How do people think it will compare to the STI? i would of hoped that it would be faster or certianly the same?
