Had another look at that white spec c and its certainly a lovely car and is very tempting but im not I could do it justice as I know id never get round to taking it to the track and it would mainly be used to as my everyday car poodling around.

485bhp machine would be some daily car!
The T25 is awesome so I doubt you'd regret it, just bear in mind that it's "just" an early STi with the later 2.5 engine in it + some fancy suspension.
If you have the time why not drive the T25 + that T20 & maybe even the white Spec C to see what you think? Buyers market so doubt you'll miss out on any of them ...

dont think fud is selling up now anyway but you never know with him lol.
mate not being funny if yoiu dont intend to track it then most imprezas be it a spec c, t25, modded classic and just a straight up out of the box mpdel is going ot be wasted on the road as you can only use the car to a percentage of its potential unless the time is right, no other cars, people etc are around and even then you still could get caught out by a pothole or worse the police so i would not worry about that point.
you buy a car as you like it, want it and trust me a track day is only £200 you will soon book into one just to see what the car can do lol.
tx the t20 and t25 can be based on a standard sti, a spec c or the hawkeye had the option on the A-Line (similar to a uk spec-d low spoiler etc)
also tx going on your point that a t25 is just a blobeye with a 2.5 its not it also go tthe twin scroll turbo and setup. in all honesty and not knocking litchfield at all here as there are a few smaller details that go in to it but
a MK1 t20 is just in my opinion a 2.0ltr in a sti or spec c form with AST suspension with whitline gear all dialed in and a remap (fuel pump, inlet pipe, sports cat 2.5" pipe) and a badge
a MK1 t25 has all the above but a 2.5ltr lump fitted so in my opinion is more special as they jap market only produced the sti and spec c with the 2.0ltr so you get the low down grunt and the so called lazier lump which dont be put off by as the rev like a good'un.
in both cases if i rememebr right albeit the mk1 t20 /; t25 litchfield on upgraded the pistons i think, the head studs and bearings are factory standard.
NOW thew MK2 T20 and T25 are a different story they got the full cosworth engine and all the trimmings but as well as comming in the standard STI and SPEC-C the also had the option of being in the A-LINE trim to.
as for the t25 you are going to see, i would do what i did and call litchfield and give them the build number and ask about its history as they try to keep as much of it on file and in a lot of case end up buying them back and selling them on.
in particular thew one you have shown states it has a blue printed cosworth lump now unless that has been back to litchfield or another tuner they MK1 did NOT have any cosworth parts fitted they were a standard us 2.5 lump with the psitons upgraded and that as far as i remember was it. so call iain at litchfield and find out before you drop 12k on something that is not what you think it is.
best of luck

Thank you for your comments and thank you Steve and TX for all the info and advice.
Called Ian about the car and he said that it was a good car and that was good enough for me.
