My problem with the privacy glass is that it does nothing, looks awful and makes an already dark interior even darker (IMHO ).

It's the same with push button start. Utterly pointless. An engineer came up with bright idea of combing the key and start function many many years ago. A marketing man decided that we all need a push button start (but only on the expensive models!) and that becomes a "must have" option.
The problem with all Japanese cars is that you have no choice over spec. If you want higher spec engine/suspension/interior you also have to accept all the "must have" gadgets and trinkets. Thankfully many of these you can switch off (auto wipers and lights) but others you have to live with (privacy glass, grotesque spoilers, cheesy rear lights).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the spec for the 2011 WRX or maybe picking up a very, very cheap 2010 one.

 

I forgot to mention the most hateful of all new gadgets....... the electronic parking brake. A device conjured up purely to allow the fitment of more cupholders!
