Riding with his eye-blinkers on too; A good rider would have spotted plod, and would save the stupidity for the track day.

I speed on a regular basis but 100 anywhere is a bit daft, in a 40 is just ridiculous! He's also fooking it up for everyone else by focussing plod's attention on speed furthermore!

Agreed...we are not whiter than white...and we all love driving which is why we own these cars... but sorry... I have NEVER sped in a 20, 30 or 40 zone... they are set at that speed for someone else's safety....most likely for children...and so I do not accept criticism for being "holier than though" in saying I hope he gets the book thrown at him.. sorry..no sympathy..

100mph through a playground with bunnies and kittens, whats wrong with him?

Unless of course it is one of those fkin pointless 40zones like the one leading from the last lights on manor way in cardiff toward merthyr............500meters of 40zone in a no junction, no pedestrian dual carriageway, then suddenly 70. Then it suddenly becomes not that bad. Seen many a beemer/scoob/evo/merc/porsche having a drag race from those lights, well in excess of 100 imo, not that i condone that sort of behaviour.

theres a road near me thats 40mph limit, 100 foot rock walls down each side for some of it, makes you wonder why its 40 when most cars do national along it anyway :S

i bet you could crack 150mph along it without any problems except for a cruve so 100mph along there, while sounding daft isn;t exactly an issue at all.

Post a google street link to the location, should help make minds up.

Plenty of 40mph dual carriageways around here with no exits or footpaths. Example

My guess, based on these traffic cops type programs is that he will get away lightly. All the idiots on these shows that drive whilst banned, no licence, no insurance etc seem to get away almost scott free!! The people who usually get punished are generally decent drivers who get caught doing 34 in a 30 or something similar.

My prediction....12 month ban and £500 fine with possible points for the future.

lol at the 40mph for a reason... come to Surrey where some of the best fast country roads have gone from 60mph to 30mph without accidents or any other reason to do so

Still 60mph over the limit is a bit stupid... i'd say 12 months ban and £650 fine

Right, bit of a update. The road WAS one of those pointless 40 mph zones. If anyone knows it, it was the Harpenden Road to St. Albans. He drove at 30 mph through Harpenden, went round a roundabout and blipped it up to a ton.
He then slowed back down again to about 50-60 when he got tugged.
This road was always a 60mph zone has been changed to 40 for no particular reason. No houses along there or schools etc. Fields either side of the road.
Police have said that he was travelling at about 120 when clocked.

We stopped, put our window down, asked him WTF he thought he was doing. He admitted to jumping the red light and said he did it "as it was quiet". We informed him that he was lucky not to have collected us, and had we not got an emergency to attend, he'd have been receiving more than a 30 second tongue-lashing from us.

Well there is no denying that was a very dangerous action by him as he found out and almost the hard way.

I am surprised that if you had time to tell him your thoughts about it all that you were unable to book him for it. Surely you only needed his registration number.

Letting someone off with a telling off for speeding is one thing if it was under safe conditions, but jumping a red is surely a bit much.

We were the only car which was free and covering an area stretching from Hucknall hight street to the border of Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield at Kings Mill Hospital, and the emergency we were heading to was far more important.

A 30 second rant we could get away with, but stopping to dish out a ticket would have resulted in us having to check licence, insurance, tax etc too, and at that point we were unaware of the state of the victim at the job we were going to.

its a nightmare round here isn't it young sir, theres a few bits round near me that are 30 yet theres no footpaths, houses, ******, should be nationals then we drive down single track lanes, national.

i think he'll get an 18 month ban, but can do a road safety course after a year to get his license back and a £487.63 fine.
