Re the heatgun, I was too chicken to do that
Re the circle/rectangle keylock, I'm sure it changed over one year but not sure when, possibly 2004, remember noticing on a new Sti a long time ago in a showroom ,and when looking at buying a used car ealier this year I noticed on a few cars that the rectangle seems to dull-over/corrode, thats maybe 1 reason they changed it..or maybe I'm talking p*sh

done mine tonight, left the WRX on though just ditched the S U B A R U letters, must say looks so much better, I used a heatgun, panel wipe and autoglym
then took the car for a spin to pick my other half up and the gearbox went dont know if this was connected to the car losing it's identity but maybe something worth watching

For some reason the previous owner of my car had taken off the Subaru lettering but left the WRX Impreza badge on. So I've just bought some more Subaru letters to go on sometime this weekend , weather permitting. most people know what these cars are by now, the massive exhausts and spoilers generally give it away so its hardly making the car stealthy But if you prefer the clean look then debadge away.
