I'm sure that the WRX Wide Body will be here in the Autumn .... of course, it is not in Subarus interest to let that slip while an airfield is cluttered with unsold WRX's!!
Just bung ppp on them and some nice 18" wheels and they will sell ...... then, they can announce the WRX £19k Widebody which will take the market by storm!!#
The STi is a secondary product ... too expensive, and too hard core for 99% of drivers!! They need to sell numbers again and the wide body WRX will do just that

There's not that many unsold ones now. A lot were put out as leasing vehicles.
But when you consider there were only 1000 WRX's to be sold from November 2007 when the hatch was launched, and 2 1/2 later there's still some left, it's a poor show.
Some will say it's because it looked too similar the lesser powered models, but that wrong. Back in 1997 and 98, the UK Turbo and the Sport model looked exactly the same bar the alloys, and there was a 6 month waiting list for the Turbo's.
It's general looks was the big problem, and not that it looked too similar to the 2.0 n/a model. Two different things.
We no longer have Import restrictions on Japanese cars, and I see no reason why they can't sell a widebodied WRX over here. The more choice the better. However IM have had their fingers burnt with the WRX, and probably don't want it to happen again so soon.
But more importantly, I think they've realised that their move to more mainstream customers looking to buy a Focus or Golf has been a mistake. They took their eye off the ball as regards the performance market, hence the reason the STi saloon will be launched with a large publicity push, and I don't think they'll want to cloud that with the WRX model at the same time.

They spoke to me about the Cosworth .... the discussion went onto the wide bodied WRX launch in the UK. You seem to have a problem with that?
Is it the same clouded judgement which made you buy a Fugly Bugeye?

I dare say you must be on first name terms with the Managing Director, Marketing Director etc, after all the Chief Technical Officer often contacts you for advice.
I bought the S202 because it is a full blooded Impreza, made to a design brief of making it the best car possible, a limited production run of just 400 cars. It is not a 'run of the mill' car, if you knew anything apart from your own very limited opinions you would realise that.

The hatch has been a huge and deserved failure and now they will either try and reclaim some of the market they abandoned or eventually pull out of the UK altogether.
As to which it will be ... 50/50 chances either way I reckon.
Doesn't matter to me as I won't buy another after the crap I got over warranty issues with my 03 STI and the more I read about their behaviour as regards the engine failiures with the hatch the less confident I become.
Seems a long way from the halycon days of the dependable classic and the coveted Number 1 position on the J D Power survey.

I had a talk with Subaru UK about the Cosworth Impreza, we discussed many things - including the UK launch date for the wide bodied Impreza WRX
Clearly, it cannot be made public or the airfield full of old slim WRX's will not sell ...
