I think the difference with HD ready and Full HD is that Full HD is 1080p.

We sit about 3 or 4 metres away and going from 42 to 50 I think its worth us going 1080p.

The U10 doesn't have anti glare so the sun will shine on it and lights will reflect in it. Our PX70 suffers from this but it wouldn't stop me buying the U10. It only has 2 HDMI which is all I need because the Sky box uses one and my receiver uses the other. My DVD, Bluray and PC all connect to my receiver via HDMI.

At £600 I'm very tempted with the U10. Theres G20, S20 in the 2010 range but they are £500 more expensive.

I think the U10 will be a good upgrade to our PX70. If I can get a good price for the PX70 I'll buy a U10

The 1080i/p thing is not the difference.

Oh OK. I didn't think it was as clear cut as that.

As mentioned no, its 720p or 1080i not 1080p. However it downscales a 1080p input.

As I said, at the distance I view from I would not benefit from p so it wasn't worth buying at twice the price when I had a 1080p projector.

I personally wouldn't go with a set that didn't have anti-glare.....

Simple....

Plasma √

Panasonic √

After that, add as much to the budget as you can to get the best set. The THX sets aren't proving a massive success with many criticisms over the colour compared to the normal settings. For me, the current G20 range with FreesatHD and FreeviewHD with 600hz are about the best you can get. 3D variants are due soon, but I'd leave that alone for a year or two to let the tech develop and the amount of 3D media to become worthwhile.

Presonally I wouldn't buy a new tv until the 3D versions have sorted themselves out. I know there is some cracking deals but I still think its a waste of cash once you see how good the 3D is

another vote for Plasma and without doubt Panasonic I bought one just over 12 mths ago and it's amazing . Only thing is shop around. Mine is a 50" and prices all seemed around £1600 to £1750. But I managed to get the same one for £1375

Buy the best you can afford......

This thread is proof that, if you want good advice, don't ask the 'experts' of NSR. No doubt PSL will be along in a minute to add his tuppence worth...

I was told the screen for all plasma are manufactured by a small number of compnaines..its the processing behind it that makes the pic the way it is..

I think i have narrowed it to possibly 3:

Any thoughts?
