Mine was the same one that came back.
I have just bought another one from ebay to use at work and its freshly back from MS as the seller bought a new one while his old one was being repaired (same thing i did with my first one tbh)
X-Clamp mod never usually lasts anyway if the console is used for long gaming sessions.

Yep 2 have gone on me. First was catastrophic where the graphics hung up and then nothing at all, couldn't be reapired and out of warranty. My latest one (Another 2006 model) I have which is an E-bay special also started to play up. Tried the towel trick which kept it going for another 2 weeks, then 3 RRODs came up again, towel trick again and 1 week, again and 1 day, again then 15 minutes Reseated the heat sinks with new articsilver paste but the fans would go into overdrive. Then bought the new heatsinks that are fitted ot the Elite, fitted these and all was well, but now after 2 months it's gone again with another 3 RRODs . Looks like a new system is required. I beleive the latest and greatest from Microsoft is due before Christmas this year when they launch the project Natal motion controller. Both the Grahpics and CPU are on the same chip. At the moment only the CPU has a heat detection system the Graphics chip doesn't so any heat issues are only detected on the CPU this is why the Graphics goes into meltdown

That's why they spent a billion bucks repairing all the RROD consoles I guess.
I've had mine go back twice, always got the same one back. Both times it was back in about 10 days.

does anyone know what they fix when you get your xbox back? i got mine back and it was clearly a fixed refirb. I guess you never get your own one back but someone elses fixed one, they just rotate. They add a couple of months warranty so will see how long it lasts.

mine was flashed so no return poss.
I wrapped it in 4 towels as the post on you tube shows, let it run for 30 mins till it overheated, left it to cool down, and it bloody worked LOL
May not always work but give it a go

Depends on how they are used afterwords though, if you do heavy gaming on them, they don't last as long, if you just use them for 20 mins here now and again, they can last for ever.
Its the heat buildup that messes them up
