Looks like the traditional strongholds have pulled through yet again. And I think your theory is correct

Basically inner city Birmingham is a sea of red surrounded by a hell of alot of blue. Despite all the major industry closing and dying, the feejits still vote Labour, but they don't need the industry now as Labour pays them ample benefits instead, they don't need the industry or the jobs.

The problem if one looks at these areas is the number of seats per square mile; Brum has 15 constituencies in one small area, which also happens to be a Lab stronghold, whereas much larger areas which possibly could have more people living and cover more suburbs, towns and villages are actually only in a single constituency covering a large area.

Same story in Liverpool and Manchester; loads of tiny little Labour constituencies surrounded by large Tory constiuencies, which even though they govern larger areas, actually have fewer seats

However, our stronghold has finally been undermined (both constituencies - I live on the boader); its been Labour for as long as I have known (20+ years).

Funny how the Welsh and Scottish are so hard core Labour with all the benefits they currently endure from the current Administration at Westminster. First thing Wales can give up are their free prescriptions which those in England are paying for them to have.
Don't tar us all with the same brush!!

I totally agree though, these votes aren't about well thought through decisions by people truly believing Labour will be the best party to lead the country, it's more about the decades old petty hatred they have drilled into them by their parents, or just because their dads tell them 'the Tories are stuck up ******, son, you never vote for them'.

As for the Tories, either you are on a wind-up or you are as blinkered as they are and you must be if all you can go on about is the countrys debt
most people live beyond their means but they do nothing about it but if 'the countrys debt' gets a mention its the most important thing in the world

80s - p!ss poor schools, poor hospitals, mining, mass unemployment (on news every single night), poll tax, interest rate at 16%
Your style of thinking is the best possible example of why this country is in such a terrible financial position and is on the verge of bankruptcy.

You have conveniently forgotten that the biggest problems during the 80's were caused by Labour's gross ineptitude in the first place.
