Yes, but don't forget this is SN where the Tories were going to get 11 times the vote of Labour. It is not even remotely representative of the real world and I shall leave it there before I sound unkind.

However seeing as you asked.

Outside the exclusion zone, heading away, poorly armed, barely seaworthy and in an agreed lull in the proceedings between both sides to consider a Peruvian backed peace plan.

A plan that would have seen an end to hostilities and of course no election victory for Thatch

Even someone as blinkered as you can see that was morally a war crime surely?

Just because Argentina and the captain of the ship later said it wasn't makes no difference when you see the motivation for them saying that some 14 years later. Ask the average Argentinian what they think. Oh sorry, they are all Johnny Foreigners to you and hence their opinion is worthless of course
Ask the Average Argentinian about the Falklands war and chances are they will get agitated, they lost for a start, the pride of their fleet was blown out of the water, later they surrendered en mass and where sent home with their tails well between their legs, those that survived that is. It was a war and nasty thing happen. Loosing just makes it a harder pill to swallow, especially when you kicked it off and got all gobby about how brave you are and how you will return the 'Malvinas' to their rightful owner and in the end got your *** handed back to you!

Ah, at last, so what you are saying is that it is a War Crime in your mind and your mind only, no one was prosectued and no one was found guilty of a War Crime by sinking an enemy battleship during a war.

I mentioned this as it seems only fair, you seem keen to have a dig at Robin re not emigrating so i thought i would bring up you lack of backing up your statements too, people in glass houses and all that eh

The difference is that my post like most on here was opinion and an opinion I believe in and I have backed up my statement very well (just because you choose to ignore any of the points I raised doesn't make them go away). You may rejoice at a load of foreigners getting killed in, at best, dubious circumstances, I choose not to. C'est la vie.

Whereas UB made a statement of fact and intent to show how strongly he felt about New Labour and then faield to carry it through despite lots of vitriolic rhetoric. Like so many on SN, all words, no action.

Exclamation Brown is childish to the end....

What an **** - petulantly going to resign once he knew he'd lost - not waiting for the 'best interests of the country' to ensure that there was someone to follow him. what a self serving pillock - good riddance!

Or stepping aside once he knew the Conservatives were going to secure their deal - you do view the world through a strange lens, my friend!

I think he left with a good bit of dignity, infact his final speech to the people he worked with very, very good and showed his real passion for the labour party. I'd say if he was able to show a bit of that passion before hand he may have been able to cling onto power.

You should be shot for your appalling grammar. Educated under Labour, were you?

Can't believe how much you lot (thought I suspect some, like Trout and F1 Fan are one and the same person) can't see what a pitiful thing Brown did tonight - couldn't win so he took his metaphorical ball home. No interest whatsoever in ensuring there was a safe handover - despite promising he'd do that several days ago. Utter chimp and redolent of the contempt he's had for the country throughout his premiership - he was never going to be anything other than greedy to keep power, as evidenced when he ignore the country's wishes for an election 18 months ago.

Thank goodness we can have some well-educated toffs in charge at last

You really are showing your ignorance in many ways. With all due respect to F1 man, how anyone could think that he and I are one and the same person beggars belief.

Whilst I am front of the queue shouting for Brown's incompetence, particularly on the public stage, I do think that he genuinely believes that he was doing his best and was extremely passionate about doing the best for his country. He just wasn't very good at some key parts of it.

The timing tonight was odd - but he could not have done it without a nod from Cameron that he was able to take charge.

I'm struggling to see how I'm being ignorant because I have a different opinion to you? I think Brown acted badly this evening - you don't, but that doesn't make me ignorant?

Not only ignorant but disingenuous too!

Whenever Brown resigned or whatever he said, you'd of had a sly dig, so don't give me all this it's my opinion BS, it's not your opinion it's your one-sided and completely transparent dogma

No offence, but when you are going to call someone out for mistakes, make sure you don't make any yourself.

I think it was the most astute, timely & decisive move of Gordon Browns career:

Namely, "Get the f*ck out of Dodge, there's one hell of a sh*t storm coming!!!"

Hi Martin - we don't know each other at all, but welcome to the discussion.

Unlike others on here, I do not claim to be unbiased - yes, I'm bloody glad the Tories have got into Downing Street again - but only because I understand all too well the parlous state of the nation's balance sheet and p&l, and we need a change of government to maintain at least a semblance of honesty and politicians working in our interests rather than for their own power-hungry ends. I was glad when Major went because he'd lost the initiative, and thought Blair brought a fresh sense of optimism to the country. Unfortunately that's all now disappeared.

I geuninely feel Brown behaved badly this evening; not in the interests of the country but rather because he'd lost and had no other cards to play. He had Campbell and Mandelson pulling the strings in the background, and it was their parting shot, having failed to win the initiative with his announcement last night. It felt cheap and distasteful to me, and I am glad to see the back of him (as is, I'm sure, that poor 'bigoted' woman he encountered last week).

Good night.

I too am pleased we have a new government, however this doesn't mean that I dismiss everything the Labour Party did, I believe they did a lot of good (DC said as much on the steps of No.10 this evening)

There is no absolute right and wrong here, and there really aint that much difference between New Labour and the Tories anyway, I mean just look at the policies they are virtually identical.

What annoys me is the tragic train of thought that leads to people posting comments that are anti absolutley everything one party does.

The main reason I'm a big fan of David Cameron (and you'll hate this sorry) is because he reminds me of Tony Blair, now if he can avoid making some of the mistakes Blair made he has every chance of being a great PM

The problem with New Liebour was that they ran out of other peoples money to spend.
I'll have to face the repercussions along with the rest of the taxpayers for the next few years with more tax (no doubt) and reduced services (perhaps) but I welcome this with open arms if it means the freeloaders / cheats have a rude awakening in the coming weeks and months. Bring it ON!!!!!!

Cant believe the way some of you have treated Gordo, you may need to grow up yourselves.

Christ how many people make worse comments on a variety of subjects in here and dont get treated like that !

Labour are long gone Brown was a liar and Blair was a slimeball, the parties over get used to it.

Thankfully Labour are gone, we can rejoice and try and get this country back on it's feet both Socially and Financially. I'm with jods on this one, cant wait to see the benefit scroungers struggling, no more take take take, get off your Labour fed fat ***** and get a job, you only have to look at the political map of the country, the Red areas being benefit central.
