Belliott69,
With all due respect I suggest you do a bit of research in to the state of the country through the last tory reign, before you mudsling the (now) previous administration. It puts things in to perspective a little. I remember it well, and so do the rest of the landslide voting public of the time..... regardless of what has happened recently. Perhaps that gives an indication to why the voting was as close as it was this time around.

and don't get me started on the alastair campbell sh1te about labour being the only 'progressive' party left - so why haven't they managed to progress anything in the last decade, despite wasting so much of our money??!

Gordo,
look a bit further than the end of your nose mate. I am not saying anything other than looking at the same administration that some are indicating are blameless. When I say looking further than the end of your nose I would kindly ask you to think about the state of the NHS, Education and the fact that nearyl all state owned bodies were privatised! It only took 18yrs to do all this!! Lol don't throw bricks when you sit in a greenhouse.

Congratulations on your refreshing attitude.

Yeah. Watch the space on Scoobynet and elsewhere. Give them 13 years (even less), and see the public (including you ) moaning as usual on "if not this, it's something else". Like that snake in the sleeve Lord (oh, Lord!)Peter Mangleson said :" People wanted change after a few years of Labour's labour". He may be a dodgy character with a bigoted nose, but he may also be right to some extent.
David did give a satifactory speech before moving into the no. 10, Downtown. It wasn't too much of an ear ache this time. Saying that, it was his 1st one. Let's see how he and his Team Cameron get on. Good luck to them and all.

I'm not seeing any evidence that education, policing etc have improved in the last 13 years. NHS yes, but by hosing cash at it, and it benefiting from massive advances in drugs and treatments and technology. I stand corrected - the level of waste has improved, and the number of shocking scroungers.
None are perfect - I'm pointing out that we need a change of government periodically for balance - moaning about what the Tories might do based on past experience from a relatively long time ago seems odd to me when we cannot continue given the mess that Labour have made of the economy. Does that mean the Tories will make it better or perfect? No, of course not, but let's give them a chance. Anything is better than more Brown. New Labour has failed.

It will be interesting to see how the next few months play out.
Who knows - perhaps another General Election is on the cards later in 2010!!

with all due respect, I suggest you research the state of the economy that the Tories inherited last time - they always get blamed for cutting costs but they have no choice, other than continuing spending money the country can't afford, which is the boring selfish path the lefties always follow.

tbh , thank god :S much longer socialist party in power would have equalled:-
1.) speed restrictor's in all cars !
2.) even more camera's everywhere
3.) ID cards for all !
4.) 30k a year benifts for the un-employable
liberty many of our fathers and grandfathers fought hard to defend and protect decimated under new labour... .. or am i over reacting/reading too much into the last 13 years ?
as car enthusiasts , seeing the price of petrol go up by 115% in 13 years and the emergence of more camera's cctv/speed etc than anywhere else in the world should be food enough for thought!
but as stated by others its the same old same old , labour get in spend everything , torrys get in clean up mess , then labour get in spend it all again, this cycle repeats itself in time
will be interesting to see if torry / Lib dems can work together for any length of time.

I am simply pointing out that once again we have a PM who was not elected by the people of this country according to the letter of the law of the electoral system.

Until we see what will happen, no one knows what the new Government will do.
Your post signifies what's wrong with much of the UK, and much of Scotland in particular, where people just can't stop wallowing in the self pity that is how they remember Thatcher's term in office. And I say that as a Scot. Its narrow minded and lacking in any intelligent thought to simply assume Cameron will mirror Thatcher.
Until those sectors are prepared to look to the future, rather than the past, getting out of this economic position is going to be even harder.
Much of Labour's campaiging in Scotland was "remember Thatcher - don't vote Tory"
That's why Labour did comparatively badly in the Scottish Government Elections, but much better in the General Elections. Labour gets the vote just to keep the Tories out, not because they actually have the support, the policies or the abilities to get the job done.
It sadly signifies the brainwashing of the great central Scottish electorate by a party who's best offering in Scotland is "vote for us, because some bird screwed you over 30 years ago".
It's pathetic.

Totally agree Devildog. People are moaning about the fact the Tories didn't get an outright majority, that they should have done better... but think how many people employed by Labour's bloated public sector all over the UK would obviously never vote Conservative when there is a problem with the economy on this scale. Thinking about their own self-interests again in the short-term. Nothing new for your average Labour voter.

nice to see that i have found one, don't like me pm me don't start having a dig on a thread. i was only saying it as i see it, fair enough i may have been misinformed over the years but as i am young i only use what i have been told by many people. i don't have the misfortune of going through a previous torie goverment but i have just been through a labour one that has made life very hard for people who want to work just like me.
by the way i think your a ****, see we can all call each other names doesn't make us big does it.

Not passing comment on anyone on here as I don't know anyones personal circumstances, but the people who I do know personally, friends, colleagues, people through work etc, it strikes me that the people who I have met who are complainaning about the conservatives coming in are the people who are most concerned about losing benefits.
I'm all for the Conservatives being in control personally, and if some lose their benefits well thats fine by me
