Thanks for info Mate - the engine is out of the car now and being checked to see what other damage - if any, has been caused to the heads, hopefully none and I can get away with a block new rings bearings etc...

Reading this thread with interest and sympathy at the same time, having been there once before not with a Scoob but an Import Nissan Largo which did it's timing belt and lunched the engine, I coudlnt get a replacement engine and had to scrap a perfectly good van.very upsetting I feel for you fella...

Have you found the cause, I know a while ago you were looking for a cambelt change, was that the cause? Also reading others comments quite alarmingly about how many others have suffered major failure, I was wondering is this completely random or specific to tuned or upgraded (powerwise) engines.

In other words does it matter whether the car is in standard form or tuned as to whether your going to get this kind of failure in the future?

Sorry for all the questions, and hope that you get things sorted without too big a hole in your wallet.

All the best

Alsie

Hi Mate thanks for your interest and words of support sorry to heat you had to break the Van The main cause is thought to be bearing failure at the moment, but as the engine came out late last night, I'm waiting for the definitive update from Dylan

As said, I had just hit 59K, not much I don't think - with moderate mods - injectors/fuel pump/ Sti TMIC/RCM induction/turbo back decat and Bob R remap - estimated power of 290

Oil changed 3 times in the 15 months I've owned the car and some history from before - the last by the previous owner, at a Volvo stealer.

I'll post up the damage cause soon..............

Yes the heads were fine Dylan and Tyron have been beavering away getting parts ordered, a very nice block has come my way, which Dylan has been sorting for me race bearings - forged internals, RCM oil pump and other stuff I would need to copy off the parts list - the whole thing should be back in the car after next weekend - all well and good, hopefully Dylan will be able to update the thread at some point and add some pics of what he's doing, when I know the full parts list, or rather when I understand the parts list properly I'll post that up too

Feeling alot better about it, than the day it went POP - mainly thanks to SWS Members

I was sooo glad they were Mate I think Dylan's got plans to document it - so should be cool to see, although I don't know what he's talking about half the time He's got extreme patience, to put with my daft questions !!

"We" should be back together soon and hopefully abit "more" than before
