See now this is the problem with Desire owners, it's called single-mindedness, to an desire owner, and indeed to anyone else who doesn't know any better, the desire is the ultimate, the greatest, most perfect phone ever, and until the competition caught up, it probably was.

Ive had my HTC Desire for a few weeks now so ive had a chance to test it out, these are the things that stand out.
Positives:
The touch screen is superb and very responsive.
The internet is lightening fast both on wifi and mobile internet.
The screen is stunning with great colours.
Call quality is great.
Google maps are great for navigation.
The keyboard is great for texting.
Apps seem to be very good, this will get better as android grows.
Negatives:
The ring volume doesn`t go very high, ive missed a few calls because of this.
Whilst watching a video via the internet the sound seems to be out of sync with the picture.
The battery life initially wasn`t the best but this has got better over time, you need to use it until it the phone auto powers off and do that on at least 3 occasions from new then do a full recharge of approx 3 hours. That certainly extends the battery life, i get roughly 2 full days out of mine and thats from a mixture of calls, web browsing, navigation and the usual other stuff.
I`m sure ive missed a few things but for now those things stand out, its a stunning phone and everything is very fast and responsive.

Aaah here ya go.
More interesting write up I have found. No trumpets, just numbers.

Gyroscope
The new iPhone 4 has a gyroscope built-in. This means that it can track movement with a very high precision, much higher than the built-in accelerometers in the previous iPhones. It's 3-axis, so it's capable of detecting pitch, roll, and yaw. Couple with the accelerometer, you have 6-axis motion sensing

An Accelerometer will tell you where you went, a Gyroscope will tell you where you are. For most people this will mean smoother 3d scrolling in for instance Augmented reality applications for me it will allow complete 3d accuracy in the tracks I record whilst flying acrobatics. Yes I'm excited.
