Wouldn't you believe it?

It's not put a foot wrong for 10 years ..... now it decides to crack one of the plastic headers on the radiator Just a hairline crack, but there just the same .... so, tonight, it has received a brand new radiator

I think it did it on purpose not to be sold!!

You still selling mate?

As said 50 notes straight to your Paypal before I even see the motor.

I'm not on the wind up here, hence money upfront, but I do expect a 1 owner on the V5.

The V5C says:-

The Previous Registered Keeper

[Z.1] NONE

The number of keepers surely shouldn't be the single over-riding factor that triggers a buy.

According to previous posts by yourself it is one of the main factors, the other being low mileage.

Quite correct .. it is a main factor in a car purchase - I wouldn't even consider a multi owner car of this type (certainly not if it also claimed low mileage! As the two never go hand-in-hand).

The Number 1 factor is condition.

Number 2 is history and how long the MOT.

Number 3 is has it been messed about with?

Number 4 is how many owners has it had?

They are the main factors I would suggest?

Mileage has to be secondary to the above.

To buy simply on the fact it has had one owner is not what anyone does, important though it is.

The £50 may be amazing value - but 15 years in Prison after a month in Hospital ain't ...

I am only interested in the motor Pete, if you like get some one else to sell it on your behalf if you do not want to deal with me, I work for the MOD and am a decent chap, any sort of funny business from me would result in instant dismissal.

I want the car because it is non abused, not modified, 1 owner and 100k on the odometer.

To further reassure, my wife is a ophthalmology consultant (NHS) Maelor and she can phone you from work, which you can check via 1471, so you can check her background information if you like, also, a mod on here knows my address.

FWIW - I would say 2500k private - and trade no more than 1500k

unless to the dealer mentioned above, then I would expect him to pay 4500k min,

No idea if his brother is an Estate Agent

He had no reason to lie - in fact he was offering me £3000 Part Ex. for mine at the time. That was off a List Price which other Dealers wouldn't move from .... so, it seemed a genuine offer? But we all know that when the chips are down so are the list prices - whatever they may say when they are not sure if you are serious or not.

I'm just going through the paperwork to put the original 'W' Reg plate back on it ...

Dedrater, I have no problem in dealing with you at all ... I will note your £2600 offer, and I will treat it as a genuine offer (but, you haven't seen the car - it could be total crap .... ?? which is why I find it very odd .... unless you know the car already? Working for MOD and suchlike?)

being honest if its as tidy as you make out i'd be looking for £3k-£3.5k, theres not many left that are unabused one owner cars and as others have said it has been owned by the legend of scoobynet which means some people may want to actually own it and others may well want to burn it lol.

any decent car dealer - one who wants to be in business in a few years time

will look at it totally dispassionately and see it for what it is

a 10 yr old car, with a "past it’s sell by date” image that struggles to achieve 25mpg (with petrol hitting £6.00 a gallon soon) and with only average mileage

(and hitting the zone where things will just start to go)

I would suggest that they will think the potential market is quite niche (hence for them risky)

what ever they offer you as a trade in deal is meaningless – ask them what they would buy it off you for, for cash

Of course, the Dealers look at it as a 10 year old Impreza Turbo .... their eyes do shine when I say I have had it since new - they then get very excited ......

Taken out a New Astra 1.6T today .... fantastic looking HatchBack, sadly no Turbo punch

Then took out a Mazda 3 mps - bloody hell ..... fast or what? Amazing equipment too! But, I don't think Mazda allow a TowBar

I am reminded that I own the car I am searching for!

Well, I now have the old numberplate back ... put those on tomorrow.

Wait for the V5 from DVLA, then I can sell.

The new car should be ready on or around 15th June - so, I guess next week will be time to advertise her

Imagine what a collection of paperwork you accrue when you have owned a car for 10 years since new?!

Just taken some last snaps of the old lady this afternoon:-

You know what?

I may just keep her .... will see what the market thinks .... I will sell at a sensible price, no point me dropping to silly money as the values cannot fall further (I could garage her for a couple of years and then sell)

She is a nice car Pete, excellent condition for it's age and mileage.

She would probably outlast you if you kept her, ditch either the Honda or Mazda and keep the Wagon.

Can you really bear the thought of some young chav buying her and running her into the ground? She has not put a foot wrong and yet you could be consigning her to a short life of racing around shopping centre car parks and probably ending up wrapped around a tree or lamp post.

I did say to Mrs Lewis today that, in a few days, this car could be wrapped around a tree ....... it could be chavved upped ...... it could be being raced to within an inch of its life ...... she sounded so smooth, so refined - it would be tragic.

But, really, she has to be sold - times move on, the memories remain ... maybe I could sell Mrs Lewis instead?

Just think of it this way - which one gives you the least problems, always does what you want when you want it and costs less to run?

Seriously though I would keep the wagon personally as if it were my car after having owned it from new I couldn't bear the thought of somebody trashing it after I had always taken good care of it.

stop going on about it and sell it for gods sake, its just a car, and a shi**y wagon at that, i mean if it was a saloon maybe i could understand, i would price it at £1500, hopefully some chav in a burberry cap will buy it and fit lexus rear lights and a massive jap pipe and a blow off valve and drive it like he stole it.

It is the best colour ... in the sun it looks amazing, even after 10 years ... but I do reckon it's got a deeper polish than it has paint after all this time!

Lovely. That looks like the Subaru/Bosal tow bar. I have one too.
Those pictures bring back memories of my first Impreza; a '98 wagon ordered in autumn '97. Those were the days when you paid full list (£24k with extras IIRC) and had to wait six months for delivery. How times change.
I'm almost tempted to get my standard back box out of the loft for old times sake!
