Checking from cold is not a school boy error mate. It should be checked from cold.

 

If this is a standard 2.5 then it shouldn't use much oil at all. My Spec D hasn't used any in the last 700 miles.

On a side note, I thank my stars I didn't take you up on the offer of your car for 14k with the "fixed" head gasket.

 

ok so it went back to the dealers who admit its a common fault after the head gaskets go...and it shoul dhave been checked when they did the gaskets.

They did a cylinder leak test and eveyr cylinder failed - apparantley if the knock sensor detects know, it lowers the boost which is why the car feels so slow, to the point a civic type R, standard is quicker than me....hmm :S

 

Doesn't this hinder your sale somewhat ?

 

Its going in under warranty for a new shortblock - and will go to the new owner after that - as technically ids then a spec d with a new engine.

 

Cool, that's a great result, but I think your gonna struggle to get someone to commit to a purchase. I'd wait till it's back and run in before I sold it, you never know, you might change your mind. What a back of poo some of these 2.5's are so pleased I bought one
