I think you missed the point there!

If he wants 400bhp with TMIC, probably better to fit an APS CAIK in the wing, or some other wing mounted filter?

btw, I'm interested in your engine bay mounted induction kit with long skinnty K&N filter and hard pipe. How much for that set up? (I've got FMIC).

Check out the quickest drag cars and you'll find almost all of them use very big filters indeed fitted under the bonnet. The majority of this "cold air feed" stuff is cack in our view. Just figure out how much air is sucked into a 500 bhp engine at full chat, and you'll soon realise that whatever is going in, it hasn't hung around long enough to be "warmed"
Charge temp, that's the real issue.

I can't get a supply of those exact filters now, but we can come up with something close. We designed that set up for the S206, enabling a very smooth intake for the turbo. Price around £225 all in, which compares well with a Samco inlet!

Hey,

thanks for your help guy's, my view is to go 400 BHP but when...I'm not sure...what I would like is a small hike in power...and more so torque from headers etc that will also suit my setup for when I do go 400BHP.

tubular headers and up-pipe I think are ok for that job,now the intake i'm undecided on...I will be sticking with TMIC for now...when I go 400BHP who knows.

thanks again guy's, the current 'lean' situation is it anything major to worry about?

IMHO it will lean out a further circa 0.3:1AFR on the road.. it needs checking imho.

Yes 360 bhp on the standard turbo then upto 400 by fitting the FP green and other bits, now 416 bhp when the exhaust was changed to a 3.5 inch de-cat.

I was drooling over the Gobstopper yesterday with its engine bay induction kit, seems to manage fine as you have stated

Simon

Looks way too lean to me too

I'd be hoping to see more like low 11's on the dyno.

Low 11's is what we saw on the road using the LM2 wideband so dunno what has happened there. As I have said to Ben - happy to meet up and check it out when he is available.

I'm not saying an underbonnet kit isn't good for power, but he's got the standard TMIC and is running standard ECU/MAF. Surely the MAF will send 'warmer' ambiant air temperature to ECU that will retard the ignition a bit loosing any gain he gets from increased flow over the standard panel filter?

I'm running Hybrid FMIC and plan to fit a Syvecs ECU, so an underbonnet filter is the best option for me. What type of filter can you supply with your hard pipe kit, the problem I have with RCM one is it fouls on ABS pipes when I close the bonnet. Have you get any pictures of the new set up?

Anders

the ecu only retards if over 40C iirc. Once you are moving the air temps are less than that.
