Horrified obviously. But the law has to be maintained irrespective of age and who it is.

I go back to the point about if it was murder. Children have and will murder other children. They may not have a full grasp of the implications but even very small children know that hurting others is wrong.

My issue is those that say these boys shouldn't have been on trial in the first place with no actual knowledge of the case.

But what ever happened to the innocence of doctors and nurses? We all did that, right?

Edit: This was in response to PH what he said "The boys did wrong - plain and simple - if you speak to the NSPCC and if you hypotheically had the same problem (god forbid) i think you will find that as far as they are concerned the boys sexually abused the girl even if they just got her to pull her pants down that is enough. This is not play or having a bit of fun at all and should not be confused or considered to be such"

indeed, I would hope that the CPS had good reason and its not just some PC crap.

I almost shat myself this week as my child got their disposable camera pictures back from the 3 day primary school trip, looked through and there where a couple of shots of the dorm where in the background there were kids in various states of dress. I half expected a swat team to break through the windows and doors and arrest us all (I would have thought the photo processors would have noticed these?). Needles to say against childs protest they were destroyed immediately.

Not sure if it was media hype, but I remember the news saying they matched her story with her injuries

That statement puts this "only a bit of harmless play" into context... If the CPS felt it was serious enough to take to court then we have to accept there is more to this than we were told.

Not sure exactly what you are getting at, i deliberately kept my post ambiguous as the facts and detail of this case are not known - we all are speculating.

As i said the cps prosecuted this case - the right's or wrong's of this going to court aside, they do not prosecute unless they are pretty sure of winning the case. This in mind, it is likely the 'assault' on the girl was not just 'doctors and nurses' or a game. The girl is/was younger than the two boys at only 8 this is very very young to be involved in this sort of behaviour - speak to the NSPCC about this if you do not believe what i have typed. Same goes for the boys, both 10 y/o at the time.

I am not naive enough to think that kids are not curious about themselves or other kids.

I am not some PC softy, i am one of the original 'hang them and flog them' brigade and proud of it.

I am sure if you chatted with the girls parents you would see how this can affect the child and family.

Getting to the cause of the problem, why the boys did what they did and then rehabilitating them is paramount for the boys and society. If they are deemed to be a threat then they should be in secure care until not considered a threat.

Isn't your response/reation to the pictures a 'pc crap' type of response?

Sometimes when shopping usually with my two brats in tow, a child smiles at them/us and or says hello and we do the same back - would i do the same if on my own - actually yes. I am not letting hte pc brigade dictate to me.

And do you really think that 'the' PC discussion/argument is not connected or in any way/isn't relevant to this case/subject???

Why would you assume i was huffy, perhaps you remark says more about how you are feeling at the moment. I simply asked you a question, no more no less - I did not feel the need surround it with as it did not seem appropriate to, being just a simple, straightt forward question.

I could ask why are you being so defensive, perhaps you are the one in need of chiiling out

any chance you will answer the question?

PC affects every thing we (are allowed to) say and everything we do every day. So yes. I think it affects this case as well as the way everyone is discussing it here.

The guy above who shat himself over his kids pictures is a case in point. I think it is a sad reflection on today's society that the situation he found him self in made him destroy the pictures immediately.... instead of having a bit of a laugh about it and for the record I would have done exactly the same for the same reasons.

Some **** here called Aladdin accused me of sending him threatening PM's last week. That could get me into trouble just as easily... it was over on a Mohammed cartoon violence thread.

There is a fine line between freedom of speech and political correctness.... so the point i was trying to make is that PC is probably a little outside the scope of this thread but I agree it is definitely intimately related.... and covers a heap of topics. Not just the ones we have talked about on this thread.

Maybe we all need to chill out a little bit <smiley face>

I for one have had enough of political correctness. DCI Gene Hunt for President!!!

I too care little for political correctness and even less for those who advocate it. I do believe we should treat others with respect and how we would want to be treated, i also believe in Karma but not in God.

I think the 'problem' with modren society is that more and more people have little or no respect for others, but forcing PC on people is not the answer, never has been, never will be. Responsibility seems to be taken away yet people seem to know all their rights and could not care less about their responsibilities.

Some of us remain consistent ... adult crime (should) = adult consequences.

Why is it that people have no trouble believing ten-year olds can commit any crime except rape, which apparently would just be larking around?

I totally agree.... and would add to your first point; people shouldn't get so worked up about religions satire!

The second point is another great subject. How about the rights of burglars vs the people they are robbing for starters!

Nope, its a self preservation response induced from from my environment.

If it were innocent family pics of my own kids I would not give a monkeys/be willing to fight the anti PC cause.

The ultimate PC syndrome which we see so much of these days has done a great deal to drag this country down and to destroy the old common sense which always did so much to encourage sensible actions over debatable occurrences in previous times.
