Why are a lot of iphone owners so defensive about apple and their iphones ?
If i were an iphone fanatic of which i aint i would have been dissapointed with their latest offering considering all the hype prior to its release, none of its new features or hardware are exactly ground breaking.
I wouldn`t mind betting that when HTC release a new phone in the UK that will be a rival to the iphone then it will have far bigger leap in technology, yeh Android phones lack the iphone database at the min but IMO they are much nicer to use with a far better interface and they don`t look dated like the iphone does.
HTC are not perfect, i own one myself. On the Desire the speaker could be far better along with the volume levels but thats my only issue with the Desire.
This aint a HTC v iphone reply, they are both very good phones that do a lot of useful things plus its each to their own with anything in life.
Its just it seems like an obsession with a lot of iphone owners, its like they have to have the latest release regardless of whether its value for money or whether the phone is a significant leap in technology from the previous version of which the latest iphone isn`t IMO.
Yeh it has a few new things but nothing really ground breaking.

Lol. But i have questioned similar things in this thread and have not got a proper answer yet. Reminds me of the original iPhone thread when i asked "why do you think its the best phone in the world" and got no real answer
Having said that, I am genuinely interested in what this phone can do, but can't seem to find much on the interned apart from people going mad for the camera and the hardened screen which wont really benefit me that much. Maybe it's because the iPhone 4 has nothing ground breaking or nothing that isn't out there already?
So can anybody tell me what the iPhone 4 can do that is new compared to the old 3GS please? and don't mention the gyroscope unless you can tell me that it does more than just add more depth to the accelerometer for games, and gimmicky apps.
Much appreciated

I don't have an iphone, I have a Nokia brick, (rental paid for by work, I just pay for my own calls). My wife has had 3 blackberries and I have had to set them all up and show her stuff, I am not enamoured with blackberry at all.
I have iTunes, linked to an amp, and an iPod in the car.
We got my son an iTouch and of course I had to set it up, it was a dream.
My wife then moved away from the Blackberries and decided to try the iPhone, you guessed it, I had to set it all up, and it was a dream.
I haven't had the opportunity to try any other phone, TBH, I am not bothered.
Because of the above, I'm getting myself the new iPhone 4g

Ok chaps have tried to get some facts together,so this afternoon i rang a friend at o2,[does all my good deals ]so this what he said,
But,the new 4 will have a much improved resolution,to the screen, the video will run at an improved,30 frames ps more,it will have vga and a flash, the rest you can find HERE.
ps
he also says,
eh stop pushing !
o2 stores where only informed this morning around 8am for the release date, which will be the 25th of June, all the 4G software will be available for the 3Gs on the 23rd of June".
ps
he also says,
this phone will blow away anything that stands be for it and the demand will be massive, they are not taking pre orders, you will just have to queue with the rest of the nerds and demand is looking very high.

I quite the look of the the new Iphone4. It has some nice features, but there is nothing that you cant get on most other phone manufacturers.
The processor isnt faster than the latest HTC desire/Nexus, nor the camera. 2 way video calling only over wifi to another Iphone is almost useless as a feature.
Apple have made a nice phone, no technology leap compared to what is already available.
It will come down to cost ultimately. My HTC Desire is going to cost me a total of £520 over the next 2 years for 300 mins/300 texts/unlimited internet/month.
How much will an Iphone4 cost over the same period with similar tariff? edit O2 offer Iphone 3gs 16gb over 24 months will cost £869

I can just picture it now. I'm on a busy underground escalator, trying to walk up the stairs as I'm in a rush, but oh no, i can't get past, some arrogant 'trendy' tw@ with his shades on indoors is blocking the whole escalator, both left and right lanes, because he's making an important video call to his GF to tell her how great he is.

Its usually the fat bloke in his later 30's blocking the whole escalator as he is looking at the screen of the Blackberry on BBM telling his missus he has just got off the tube so didnt get her last 35 messages, but is on his way now

Looks like they already have some bumpf on 02 website about upgrading:
http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/howtoupgrade.html
In short if your still in contract and fancy one early you have to pay £20 a month to buy out the remainder. As even the 3G 8gb gets you £170 on O2 recycle and probabaly £200+ on ebay then I guess its not too bad. Just depends on handset prices.
My main concern in all that is losing my current friends & family 30% tariff discount. So I will probably wait and see.
I assume Vodafone will release around the same time?

I can already make video calls over 3G on my HTC phone and could also do it on my old N95. Both were connected to t-mobile, as long as the receiving phone had video calling and 3G reception the picture was pretty good.

Good ol Steve Jobs......... Sits on a secret for donkeys and then releases something less than impressive!!! The Spec of the Iphone 4 is nothing gorund breaking, it's not on the edge of the technological bounds for phones!!
Don't get me wrong I like my iphone but the Android phones are closing the gap fast!
The one thing that annoys me about the iPhone is you are bound by Job's tiny little pee brain, you pay all that money for a phone and you can't put what you want on it which limits the phones effective use.
I suspect the New Samsung Galaxy S will **** all over the iPhone especially with Android 2.2 on it.
I'll have a look at both new phones and see which appeals the most I guess
