I know, last saw one at Geneva airport about seven years ago, one of the VIP ones, just love them, so strange when you are used to the full sized ones, like when you see one of those half sized coaches that are just asawn off version of a normal one, just looks odd.

Love the 747, so majestic, the A380 is an immense acheivement and probably better in every respect but its just a fat Airbus, apart from looking a bit ungainly, having double decks and being huge it doesnt look that special, in fact most modern airliners all look the same, like Audi's they are just various sizes of the same thing, remember Concorde, the Tri Jets and stuff like Tridents, all trying different ways to do the same thing, they have found the best way now and just scale it up and down.

There used to be a small scale Spitfire flying around and I can't remember whether it came from somewhere in the midlands or further south. It looked and even sounded quite realistic and I think it used to turn up at air displays. Have not seen it for quite a long time now.

There was a time when I used to set my watch my the PIA 747 taking off from EGCC on 06L. Used to buzz the office with about 20 feet to spare. Most days it was 24R ops though so we were safe! Always used to hate 06 departure days... those PIA pilots liked to leave no room for error!

I'm trying to put a group together around a T67M at the moment. In contact with another pilot who has the same idea's as I do, and he's working on another couple of guys he knows as well. We want something with side by side seating, something you can go places in, but also something you can tip upside down and make your self ill. I've done quite a few hours in the 160, but find it a little underpowered. The 200 would be ideal, but finding one is going to be difficult. And then the 260 - not flown one, but 10,000ft in 10 minutes appeals, the running costs dont !

Saw either a DH Vampire or Venom yesterday flying low near where i work - Fantastic sight

angle was wrong to see if it was the twinseater or single looked like the single seat



Was lucky enough to do a littlle work on these and had a sit in one and started one up - over at Cranfield, a chap called Sandy Topen(sp) had them along with some other interesting kit - we used to fill the tyres up on the Lightenings there to stop them from getting ruined - happy days 20 years ago this was. I took a call whilst there it was John Travolta seeing if sandy had a spare engine for a vampire - the best i could manage when he said who he was was "what - theee John Travolta" He said "Uh-ha" - what a tw@t i felt

And thats a good thing. Sandy brought a massive job lot of spares from the RAF/MOD and had around 4 brand new (crated) engines (amongst many other things) in one of his hangers. It was always a real treat to go over there and help out.

Been lucky enough to get my backside into the driving seat a few aircraft including a Hurricane, Spit, Vamp, Venom, B17, Hunter and Lancaster. I have flown a DH tiger Moth and a Yak 52

Was very lucky at Southend airshow around 18 or so years ago - i got friendly with the pilots of two displaying A10's, got really hammered in the bar with them and was looking very sorry for myself the next day. They took pity on me and suggest oxygen, climbed into one of the A10's and the pilot let me fire it up - Another very good day out

i'm off to RAF Coningsby tomorrow so it'll be battle of Britain flight and Eurofighter to start with.plus i live under the flight path for RAF Holbeach Bombing Range.so most week days f15's,harriers,Tornado's and the odd Hercules and Chinook's

I have got some hours on the Vampire, the T11 twin seater and the ex fighter type single seaters which came back from the Middle East.

It was a very nice machine to fly even if it was a bit gutless compared with the Canadian version of the T-33.

It was the only aircraft I knew which could do a loop at 30K feet which is saying something!

It was generally referred to as the "Clockwork Mouse"

Just had the Lancaster heading South West low over a misty East Northants.

That's the second time it's buzzed me in the past month.

i was surprised the cockpit was mostly made of plywood! I was offered (and declined) a ride in a two seater - but the bang seats where not active. No one with the right armourers cert working on them so the seats where fixed, just did not fancy my chances if it did go **** up.

Loved the start up with the Kauffman(sp?) starter - bloody great black cloud of smoke out of the top - always impressive!

Yes they could not fit an ejection seat in the wooden cockpit one, the seat would have stayed in the cockpit and the frame would have come through the floor if you fired it off!

Pity you did not get the ride in the T11 Paul, you would have enjoyed that.

My old man use to fly Spitfires in the war one of the best aircraft ever built,the Lightning was one of the best jets,I think it still has fastest vertical excelleration record

Although the Hunter could not be expected to have the sheer performance of the Lightning, it was the most precise handling aircraft I ever flew. The Lightning was a very impressive machine of course. Very exciting performance. I missed out flying the Rolls Royce Spitfire due to unfortunate events and that has been the regret of my life.
