Found Ants in our kitchen

Fitted kitchen? If so take off all the kick panels and have a good look round.
There is probably a load of builders shyte under there anyway which will need clearing up. We had ants using it as a sand pit under the fridge! (they actually dug a hole in the concrete floor! ).
Vac it all up, then dust the entire area under every kitchen unit and appliances with ant powder. Then put the kick panels back. That way, at least you will be confident they aren't living underneath your kitchen units.
We have endured ants for years in our office; the nests are in the wall cavities so impossible to get at. The only thing we can do is powder around the outside the building and under the carpet, plus lay some ant traps whenever we can. It keeps them at bay, but leave it too long without dusting and the buggers come back.

Being in an old steel workers type house, me and a few neighbours seem plagued by them or were for a few years of recent.
One year we had a particularly bad bout of the buggers, normal and flying. Got some of this ant powder stuff from Wilkinsons after trying all sorts of sprays. was a murky grey colour and pretty odourless. Poured a strip around the front and back of the house (terraced house so little perimeter thank god) and also some round the rooms affected downstairs.
The scene a few days later was immense. 1000s and 1000s of normal and flying ants just laying dead in this powder stuff. Best thing was where they had walked into the powder and then tried going back to their nests, they had conveniently died in clumps near the nest entrances killing more of the buggers coming out.
Quick hoover round inside and out the house and relaid more powder.
Not really had them bad since - the odd few.

I had a influx a couple of weeks ago through the front door, googled it, put a load of salt down across thee door step and they buggered off...
They also recommend trying to find the scout ants... erratic/searching type pattern...kill it and then clean extremely well to get rid of trail...
...salt was easier

Don't kill them, they are making note of who harms them and when they take over the world you will become slaves to our ant masters. I would never harm them so when the ant revolution comes I will be granted special privileges and allowed to live a relatively normal life

I bet the ants are looking up at you thinking "we have just found some tall, ugly *****'s in our kitchen when shall we do with them?"
Ok then go buy some ant 'traps' from B&Q or Tesco's infact any of the big 3 superstores sell them. They are plastic disks which you put the ant killing gel in, the ants walk through it and take it back to the nest - job done.
You need to put the disk in or near where the ants are the gel attracts them or place it in thier path as ants follow 'paths'
Not so good if you have very young children use something else.
the other thing to do is to literally ring the house with ant powder at the start of spring this will help keep ants away and hopefully kiil any who are already there.

FWIW my boss in Dubai had ants in his apartment, he lived on the 28th floor of a high rise - go figure!

They'll be out tonight when you go to bed!
We've had a nightmare with them again this year. Flying ants and normal ones. It's like something out of 'Quatermas and the Pit'! All in the kitchen in the same place as last year. Behind the fridge and under the kickboard of the cupboard next to the Aga. Little *******! Rosie's fed up with them being in her water bowl.
I've ended up hoovering them up and putting down bait stations. Gits!
