Well according this Wiki page - it was nothing to do with "us" grabbing "your" land... rather, it was to do with Home Rule and all the fall out surrounding that.

Seems we both need to get back to the history books (if Wiki is accurate).

FTA "From the late 19th century, the majority of people living on the island of Ireland wanted the British government to grant some form of self-rule to Ireland"

It all spiralled from there. The article makes interesting reading.

Shameful, maybe. I was lucky enough to actually be taught in a Integrated College, I do believe my views would be more pro-UK otherwise. Still the past is the past and all we can do is learn from it.

you want to brush up on your history mate. in ireland we had a sophisticated culture 5000 years before you heathens ventured from your mud huts.

google the tuautha de danaan and the fenian cycle. irish women enjoyed the freedom and equality of their male counterparts for thousands of years before Emily Pankhurst.

what have you englanders got by way of myth and legend.................king arthur pfffft

See you've learned lots today!

So now you can come to N.Ireland in July - specifically for the 12th day parades and demand your rights to walk up a road wearing your traditional colours (orange) in an area in which you most certainly will not be comfortable or safe.

I was a bit younger (7) but around 1972 some lad on our estate in Dunmurry asked if I was Catholic or Protestant and I didn't have a clue! So I asked my mum/dad and their response was to send me to boarding school near Brighton!

I must have been the only kid on that estate who didn't have a clue what religion he/she was!

How ironic for a country who has the BNP and a slight problem with Muslims changing "their way of life"

I was on the **** with some Irish guys I met in Brussels while working away from home. About 20 of us went out for a massive meal... taking the **** etc etc. One of the guys asked me why I was so relaxed about protestant jibes (that had gone right over my head)... I glossed over it.

Had to call my mum to ask! What a way to find out.

Religion plays no part in my life I'm proud to say... even though it seems to be affected by it all the time!

I'm Scottish, we dont have many Muslims up here so my way life is basically unaffected, and the BNP are pretty much nobody up here as well.

Nice try but no coconut Jamz

yup, hence why there is bittrness between Celtic & Rangers supporters, Celtic was set up as a charity for Catholic immigrants or something like that and Rangers were never set up or had any ties to Prodestant(ism)<< (is that even a f,ing word? ) Till the early 1900's after some Irish immigrants from Belfast came to work on the Clyde ship yards, and you can guess which football club was just up the road
