I may be being silly, but why do you need to keep resetting the ecu?. On a 2006 car, that is standard, it shouldnt be running badly atall. I have a 2006 sti, that prior to JGM mapping it, had the centre (resonated pipe) taken out and a new back box, but it didnt affect anything. Never had any 'holding back'. Its always been run on 'v' power/optimax so maybe sainsburys fuel is the problem?.

Also, would keep resetting the ecu cause any issues?

Hope you get it sorted mate.

Id have thought that if the issue is retarding the ignition it's for a reason. By doing so it would be protecting the engine. Resetting the ecu and "overiding" it may leave periods where the engine is suffering damage until the ecu has got to the point where it's safe again. Just my view, I'm sure Duncan would be better placed to say if I'm along the right lines.
