Damage limitation mate....
take the fine and own up to the speeding, if you try and head away from this they will dig and find out stuff like your missing MOT, this would lead them into safety issues and insurance.
let them have their pound of flesh and put the rest down to experience....and don't do it again

And yours was so much better in the first place, he knows hes made a mistake without silly comments and smilies
Forgetting a MOT is so easily done and with councils dropping speed limits for no apparent reasons.... loads of 30mph dual carriage ways near me that were 40/50 just a few months ago, if it was in a built up area then fair enough but you dont know anything about this case

my mrs got caught going 56mhp in a 30mph, she got a SP60 = £300 fine and 6points. However this was when a 60mph went into a 30mph. She got pulled my a traffic car and got resported for summons. She pleaded guilty by post to the courts. Knowing a little bit about speeding fines etc etc i feel she was very very luck not to get a 14 day ban. I think the only thing in her favour was the fact it was in the country.

I'm sorry sy. I'm a little bit with anger on this one your original post was a tad aggressive, saying the OP was a stupid **** and that he should be banned for his stupidity.
there's not one person on here i bet (except PSLewis of course ) that has not done something like forget MOT, speed, tax their car a day late or other offense, I have and i will probably drift over the speed limit next time i take my car out.
if you can say, hand on heart that you have never ever broke the speed limit then i stand corrected and your original post is sound
BTW i don't want to get into a slanging match

I do agree the tone was maybe a bit OTT, but it is a forum and you are going to get people that disagree.
Personally, I think the advice of take the fine and points is right and put it down to experience. No disrespect to the OP, but it sounds as if he did in fact do 'the evil deed' and therefore should take the consequences. If you choose to break the law, get on with it if you get caught out.
We could discuss all day whether we agree with speed limits, opinions of the amount of focus put on speeding/motorists in general but the fact is regardless of our opinions it doesn't matter.

The only way to "get out of it" is if there is a mistake or technical reason to let you do so - why shouldn't you therefore get off? IMHO speeding tickets are just a licence to print money & the more peeps that challenge them the better.

I kinda agree with Sy on his comments, although a tad agressive as mentioned above.
The O.P. (IMHO) came across as looking to worm his way out of obliterating the speed limit whilst not even having a road legal car. Now the circumstances may suggest the O.P. had simply forgotton his MOT and was a day late and that the speed limit could have been going from a NSL to 30 zone. Or it could be portrayed as the O.P. driving a deliberately unroad worthy car (regardless of marque - this IS Scoobybiasednet afterall) and hammering it through a residential area (and then trying to find a loophole to not take responsibility for his actions).
This is how you get the contrasting comments. Me, I side more with the reckless driving (as drifting over the limit in my eyes is a couple, maybe 10mph over the limit) and no excuse for not having an in date MOT part BUT... and it's a full blooded capital letters but, thats only my opinion and this is the internet where warriors roam free and wild

Don't do that (plead guilty in court), better to take the £60. I got done for 55 in a 30 (empty three lane road in broad daylight with fantastic weather), was offered £60 fine & 3pts, couldn't take it (long story), pleaded guilty in court & got handed £800 fine with 6pts

I have worked in law for many years now, I would 100% advise you (call this a freebie) to go to court and disclose what you are asked to disclose, for instance
Q: Was it you driving
A: Yes
Q: how do you plea
A: Guilty
leave it at that, DO NOT offer any other information, DO NOT disclose anything else.
Take the points
If there is any mitigation then present that to the court, if the roads were empty, clear, dry, family emergency etc etc.

If he was innocent, why not just say so and ask advice based on that. As it sounds, he isn't and in my opinion if that is the case, you get on with it. If he does know he was speeding, then what is the defence?
And as I said, it doesn't matter what you, me or anyone else thinks about speeding/tickets etc. If you get caught, it's bad luck. Genuine cases, then that is different.

OK peps maybe i was a bit OTT with my original post its just with the stigma we already get with these cars and the way the gov/police hit us the op's actions do nothing for us at all, from personal experence i am always anger'd
by non legal cars, i stand by what i say speeding camara offence is one thing but if an accident had happend most views would have been a lot different even if the car is perfect no mot would still make it another satistic.
apologies to the OP if offended maybe i should have worded it better

Well you can get away with not getting points, but only if they are nice and put you on a speed awareness course (should be in the nip about what you can receive as a punishment) which is 60 quid and half a day of lecturing why speeding is bad.

i had one of those 34 in a 30 FFS you only have to cough or scratch your nose in a scoob and your 5mph over.
they only offer these courses to people who are 3 or 4 over, you dont get them for 29 over the limit
and yes speeding is bad as your fuel consumption goes into single figures

I've had an NIP rescinded (I assume it's been dropped, as it was 5 years ago) due to not (genuinely) remembering who was driving at the time ...it was a long journey with lots of change-overs.
I asked for photographic evidence & then calibration cert. as the alleged speed (57 in a 50) didn't accurately match the photograph.
Also supplied all necessary docs relating to who was possibly driving (names, addresses, driving license no.s, ins. docs etc etc)
Never heard anything after that ...I would guess that there's a certain tolerance where they dont consider it worthwhile pursuing ...I would hazard a guess that this 'tolerance' is less than 19 mph tho'

Sy. you Sir are correct and you should stick to your guns.
Lets look once again at the facts shall we?
1) correct registration details? fail
2) current MOT? fail
3) Adhering to the speed limit? Epic fail
So, to recap, an unlicensed, (potentially) uninsured Scooby without an MOT is caning around at nearly twice the speed limit
If this were on a saxo site the whole of scoobynet would be calling them all sorts of chavs etc, but because its a scooby driver then "we all forget from time to time", we don't and a spade needs calling a spade from time to time.
THIS, is one of those times. OP you're a ****ing retard and a disgrace.

reckless indeed TBH i was only giving an indicator of being a few mph over, not a chance in hell of getting offered a course if your 29 over the limit though, some police forces use the 10% + 3 rule but not all do

just to clear some things up.. my car needs 2 new drop links to get through an mot so i would not say i am driving something completely unroadworthy and yes of course i posted this to receive commments and opinions on how to avoid prosecution/points when i am clearly in the wrong.. the position of that camera made it a blatent money making exercise, not really in a residential area and if there is anyway i can avoid paying it of course i would like to..

Oh, nevermind then.
Or, in fact, positioned where people (such as you) break the law. It's almost as if that's a police officer's job or something...
You broke the law, you got caught regardless of whether you agree with that law (or laws in your case) or the methods of detection. You knew you were breaking the law and you took your chances anyway, it didn't pay off for you on this occasion. Accept what's coming to you, learn from it and move on.
