I used to engage in a bit of good natured 'roadie baiting' and had some good natured tussles on my route home.....

Until.....a couple of months ago 3 roadies literally left me for dead heading home one evening and I thought, 'right, they got a head start as I was stationary at lights when they passed and I'll see if I can catch them'. So here i was giving it all my hairy wee short 41 year old legs could manage and i was maybe staying just in touch with these guys who seemed to be just cruising. It came as moderate relief when the 3rd roadie (being drafted by the other 2 and pedalling about 1 stroke to every 3 or 4 of the lead 2) checked to look behind him and I could see it was Chris Hoy.

Taught me a lesson re trying to bait roadies round where I live

I have only been dusted a couple of times on my commute, usually I do the overtaking, I suspect most arent bothered but its useful to get someone to pace yourself against, a lad from work left a few minutes before me and couldnt comprehend how I had caught him, he had the last laugh in the lakes, he finsihed the 85 miles and I conked out at fifty with cramp !
