hey i am a northern ireland fan and i have forgotten more about football than you ever knew mate. its a good bet it will be Germany but as you know it's a funny old game of 2 halfs.

It was good to see them play like a real team today and to watch them put their backs into the job.
It was a good win and we have to hope that they can get even better before they meet the top teams.

although that said you were robbed of your spot this year. As for my knoledge on football I have followed the CFC for the 30+ years of my life so you might be right although I have 56 caps as a England fan so I do know a little .

Half my cricket team have text me to say they can't play sunday now cos they want to watch the footy.
As to the match.Hmmm.Last time England really impressed me I think was the European thing v Holland 4-0.1924 or something

If I'm not mistaken that was Euro 96. Where they went out on pens to the Germans in the Semis. And ze Germans went on to win it after extra time against the Czech.

Indeed it was. I thought it was a fantastic championship all together to be honest. It was England hosting and they were in the same group as Scotland and Shearer got top scorer

I always think it's worth keeping a sence of perspective with England.
We have failed to beat teams ranked (USA) 14, and (Algeria) 21.
We did however beat Slovenia, ranked 25.
Slovenia showed a fair improvement and we should have won about 5 nil! We'd need to make the same improvement again to have a chance against Germany.
I'd hate the headlines to be about how well we played, with heart and passion etc etc........but lost, as has happened against Portugal (2006), Argentina (98) in recent years....and Germany (90) going back a bit further.
I want to read how well we played and won! Then I'll believe!
