Local Councils / Charitys should be encouraged to provide soup kitchens for those who are really on their uppers.
Failing all the above - Bring back the Feudal system

Oh, and in my experience, it's not the immigrants, but the home grown scum who take the ****. Only four nights ago, some dip-**** of a single English mother told me, whilst giving a statement, that she is falsely claiming benefits.
As soon as I'd finished taking her witness statement, she was nicked for growing cannabis in the council house we subsidise for her.
No chance - the people I meet are usually too high, too pissed, too busy committing crime or too busy having babies to leave the house.

Why should a family on the chap, be in a house next door to a hard working couple struggling to pay the mortgage each month.
With rents like these being paid no wonder they dont want to go out and get a job or start there own little businesses
If you stuck them all in tower blocks with lifts that smell of **** it might make them want to get off there ***** and make something of there life.
All the time they are living in modern rented houses and pissing off the neighbors and bringing down the area they are never going to want to anything other than become a burden on society

The smell was enough to make me think I would vomit, but the neighbouring flats, ignored this smell. I could taste (!) it from the ground floor, 4 floors below, even before the door was put in.
Did the neighbours care? Did the ****. As long as they could get out to the off licence, they didn't give a toss that someone had died. **** filled communal hall ways won't bother them!

I'm sure he's losing no sleep over your comment, but it was just a question.
I'm curious as to why you are seeming to focus on immigrants too. I'm not so stupid that I don't know we have immigrants that sponge, but we have our fair share of 'our own'.
This issue shouldn't just descend into a 'blame it all on the foreigners' thread. Funnily enough, not everything is their fault.
Like anything, if something can be abused, people will do so and it isn't restricted to race/colour. Come and live beside me and you'll find the vast majority of scroungers are white, english folk. That is not to say other nationalities aren't at it too, but I think you need to wake up if you think the homegrown aren't at it.
Btw, just for clarity to people, I'm not suggesting all people that claim anything in life are scroungers, I'm just referring to those who are taking the proverbial.

I attended a sudden deat about 6 days ago. It wasn't that 'sudden'. The old boy had been there for at least a fortnight.
The smell was enough to make me think I would vomit, but the neighbouring flats, ignored this smell. I could taste (!) it from the ground floor, 4 floors below, even before the door was put in.

I wonder how many buy to letters would go bust without all the hb/lha tenants. I know someone with 5 properties and 3 of them are let to lha tenants, One lot are okay the other 2 are a nightmare to get the money out of. Yet without them he would have gone bust by now.
It's kind of ironic though some of these private landlords relying on the poor to keep their empires afloat, maybe if the government refused to let tenants use private accommodation the market would correct itself. Thus enabling those on benefits to go out and work for the nmw and rent themselves .

On paper its is hands down the best way to rent out flats, As it turns out I decided to rent out to Police or NHS (not on a scheme, through friends) as they are pretty good tenants.
But that aside if you £10-£20k to put down on a flat and want to realise your full yield then council tenants are the way forward. It should'nt be that easy. At the moment it fuels the still entirely volatile B2L mortgage world and discourages people from working and getting their own place with one fowl swoop.

I must admit that when we got our first B2L we did approach the council and ask to join the tenants scheme.

its a regional thing and applies in the main to the 33 london boroughs where rents per week are too high.
some councils also have virtually no stock, due to the tenants right to buy.
the cash from that never went back to housing depts to build, it went to central govt.
so even families needing 2, 3, 4 bed props might find in central london the rent is beyond £400 a week.
but yes something does need to happen to stop buy to let and other landlords profiting from the poor.
also many people still under occupy social housing and will not downsize....... properties have to be freed up in order for new families to take homes. i.e little old lady in the 4 bed hse- refusing to move now all the family have moved.
but needs garden maintaining, a stairlift, hoisting, wet room, home care etc.
I led on a national govt project on this a few years ago.
as for immigrants filling houses- well trust me: I manage 23,000 homes.......... its the great mass of the white unwashed that are the problem.
admitedly the south east asian working class community have also latched onto social housing too.......... you can spot their houses because of the high end audis/bmws etc- on finance but parked up outside some ****e council house. yr fooling no one matey !!!
but god you should see our housing estates, decked out in engerland flags, 3 piece sofas out on the lawn..... tnts getting their social security suntans. aches of white flesh busting out of clothes, exposing tramp stamps and numerous other randon tribal/fish related crap tattoos.
its about time they stopped benefits dramatically for people sho just can't be bothered.
let alone those pretending to be disabled....... !

I think restricting child benefit would benefit massively and its the people that are having children whilst they are on benefits that should be targeted. If somebody becomes unemployed and already has lets say two children then fair enough but making a decision to have more children whilst out of work should be discouraged. I know that if I decide to have children in the future the first thing i'll be asking myself is 'can we afford it' not 'shall we have another child we'll more benefits'.
I work for housing benefit fraud investigations and unfortunatley we see so many single mothers that just keep having more and more children, usually to different fathers. These are the people that are being encouraged to have more children because the goverment is paying for them, these children will grow up and do exactly the same and so the cycle continues and grows and grows.

I have a plan:
1. Right to buy scheme ends today.
2. Small decent enough BASIC council homes built so no one gets left on the streets. Enough in each area to clear the housing waiting lists. Nothing too luxurious.
3. The ridiculous £400 + per week payments get stopped and tenants pay councils rent for homes built in #2 above. Councils run the housing list at just above profit benefiting from economies of scale.
4. Private landlords left to their own devices on the open market.
5. Change the rules so that you are better off working for a living. This applies to Buy to letters, anyone not working (for what ever reason) and to mothers with school age kids.
6. House prices allowed to come down to 3 time average income by increasing interest rates.
7. We all STFU about the budget and pull our collective weight for 4 years to get the economy back on track.
8. Bring back 4 year apprenticeships open to all ages. If we have to work until 70 we would have the ability to change direction and do the necessary.
It's not bleeding rocket science!
I commend this plan to the SN house.
Edit: 6. House prices come down by limiting mortgages to 2.5 times single incomes and 3.5 times the largest income when 2 people co-habbiting.

I still don't understand why these families that require huge house are not just moved out of London, you could quite easily rent a house the same size as the ones you hear about for a fraction of the cost elsewhere in the country.

It is getting stupid now.
I was told that there is a family on £107k a year in govt hand outs!
Not sure if this is true, but makes my blood boil.
Snag is, not a lot we can do now.
Con/Libs are trying to reduce it a bit, but until we make a step change nothing will happen.
I really think it would be worth not renewing benefits for any person born after say 2012 unless they have very serious money problems or physical problems.
That way, the parents have time to decide weather or not to have said kids. And they know they wont get anything.
Will take 60-70 years to sort this whole mess out, but in another 25-30 years or so we would be well on the way to a reasonable society IMHO rather than the "I am entitled to xyz society" that we are now.
Its all well and good winning votes on the back of payouts, but if it brings the country down in the process what use is that?

I was speaking to a bloke I worked with earlier who was comparing poverty from when he was a kid, to what his layabout son in law thinks is poverty now. When his family got a £3.50 rebate off the meter man they thought they had won the lottery, yet his daughter and her bf are moaning because they only have £180 a week benefits to live on (after rent and council tax)![Cuckoo](images/smilies/cuckoo.gif)
I'd be pretty chuuffed to have £180 a week to live on after my bills were paid.
