I thought I'd re-use this thread to ask how you can tell mechanically if the PPP pack is fitted? I know you can check for the cert or ring a dealer but so far the dealer has been unhelpful and I've still to get my hands on the car and book pack. I know the exhaust is different, any pics??

Yep my Scooby sport one failed only been on car 8months, 100 cell.

My sports cat is (iirc) a WR1 down pipe, it looks a better quality and design compared to the older ppp down pipes I've seen. It breezed through the emissions test the other day too.

you may reach your target bhp with just a panel filter, 2nd cat delete and a remap, the car will pass mot with just the one cat, my jdm has exceeded this with the std downpipe in place.

Not at all mate It's just I've negotiated the deal from a very long distance and the only thing I cannot confirm over the telephone, email etc is the presence of the PPP pack. The small indy that's selling doesn't know what to look for in the book pack so my only choice, assuming the certificate is not there when I arrive to collect, is to check mechanically for the fitment. Hence my question.

But as already said, If its a good price then buy it as to get figures your after be having a remap you are removing the Prodrive

If I was planning to go above 320-330 then I would be completing other mods, that's for sure. As things stand I'm not, and the price of the car is not based on it having the PPP fitted. So I could either buy a car without PPP and have to then fit a panel filter, exhaust, fuel pump and remap, or buy one with and have to fit a filter and possibly the fuel pump.

Maybe I've misunderstood but the two mappers I've mailed both said a PPP car can make 320-330 with just a map and panel filter, however reading other info a standard STi without the PPP will only make 290 with a map.

your sayin 265hp in a standard STi isn't a reasonable figure. there are not to many cars on the road are going to catch you even at that power

Not at all mate, just "reasonable" when you get in to the realms of what some of the guys on here are getting

You can ring prodrive subaru with chassis number and reg and they will tell you as they have a record of every car it was fitted to , thats what i did when i was lookin at one that was meant to have a PPP but it did not , haggled down price a bit more and bought . Back box should have prodrive stamped on it is the easyiest thing to see but that could of been just swapped . No cert would not beleive , just ring prodrive .

The advice from KLR is good. I have seen several cars advertised as PPP which were not.
A pannel filter (£40ish) is not going to add any power over a clean Subaru O/E cardboard element. The biggest reason for going for a K+N or similar is that they are reusable so you can clean them every 3-5K miles if you wish.

Well...... I managed to get the VIN and rung Subaru today and according to them there is no pack fitted. So it's back to the drawing board on that one

I'm sure it has a Prodrive back box fitted so I'm guessing if I can source the centre section and sports cat I can then add in a panel filter, Walbro and map it. Ah well such is life, a little disappointed but still very lucky to be getting a Scoob any day of the week
