Techno brat I to spent days trawling through threads on this & other scooby forums regarding bahjo bolts, before i finally went to subaru uk and i gave them the reg no off my mates P1 and they printed the entire page of the turbo with oil pick up pipe & support screw,etc off for me,i then ordered the bottom banjo that goes on to the block.When i got it home and took off the one from my old td04 they were the same diameter bar the little filter. I took it back and ordered the top banjo,when this arrived it was clear to see that the hole was alot smaller than the td04 item,which is correct because as you say it is a roller bearing turbo so it needs less oil flowing to it and having the restriction at the turbo end will ease the flow.
When my mate with the P1 had his oil changed i asked him to ask the garage to clarify before they fittied the new oil and filter,and it was the same set up as i have described above. I have a td04 banjo here on my old td04,and one off a vf 28(both turbo end)i'll tryand post up the pics for all to see.

midnight- oh right, well that is odd! what was the number you ordered for the block banjo? did this have the large hole like the td04 then but with the addition of the filter? so i assume the top banjo then had a small hole? do you have the part number? like you i have been doing alot of searching lol. any pics would be helpfull

just shy of 400bhp
Mate has same setup just hes running a vf35 turbo at 370bhp and it eats mine alive. its so savage that second gear 25mph and floor it all 4 wheels spin. Hence why iu'm changing to a vf35 on mine. Which i have :P

My thoughts exactly vf22 YES vf23 NOOOOO,never heard of anyone getting 370 from a 35 either.Dyno proven by any chance,or he says she says his mate said my mate got this and that,while necking a pint in the local snacking on peanuts at the bar figures.

Are you saving for a new engine?
There is no point taking any mildly tuned Subaru engine any where near the red line whether it be WRX or STi as the power drops off so much beyond a particular point the fastest quarter mile times are achieved with upshifts usually between 6000 and 7000 rpm depending on whether WRX or STi.
The VF28 is a very good choice, reasonable spool and good power and I had one which did 353 bhp, perhaps on an optimistic rolling road and know of a couple of others at the 350 mark but that is beyond its efficient power performance area but they are happy at 330-335 bhp with all supporting mods done.

I got 348 hp last year on a rototest (very precise, calculated with 16% loss) with VF28, fmic, silicone intake pipe, exhaust and Ecutek.
This year same spec but with Simtek I only got 331 hp on the same dyno, however the temperature was about 8-10 degrees celsius higher that day.

Very similar for a VF29. Another good turbo.
4 deg.C. ACT = 1% power.
If you want to brag about power output from a VF28, in my early days with the STi 6 Wagon I had 370 bhp with everything done. We changed to an Ion turbo, went back to the same rolling road a very short while afterwards on a rolling road day and produced 417 bhp.
I didn't think a VF28 was capable of 370 bhp and I don't think that turbo would have lasted long at that boost level and I guess the turbine was well over speed. Like I said above they are genuine 330-340 bhp turbos and some of them do a bit more.

If you read the post at the top of the page(2), it will tell you what the banjo thing is it also depends on what turbo you have fitted to your car now if it is a td 04/05 then yes you will need to change the banjo if you fit a vf 23/28. However a vf35 may not require a different banjo as it is not a rollerbearing turbo.

Well if its less than 370bhp fine(i know he will have a smile on his face if it less) but still was 4th on the list a santapod against cars with 400-600bhp. Not all about. Also down to how its delievered me thinks
