Signal Attenuation Comparison in dB
Cupping Tightly, Holding Naturally, On an Open Palm, Holding Naturally Inside Case
iPhone 4 24.6 19.8 9.2 7.2
iPhone 3GS 14.3 1.9 0.2 3.2
HTC Nexus One 17.7 10.7 6.7 7.7
19.8 dB holding naturally is a problem when the 3GS attenuates only 1.9 dB. For some it might be worth pointing out that it is a logarithmic scale.
I'll probably still get one when it is available on three which is my preferred network for my use/area, but I would like my phone to work well in marginal/rural signal areas, whether I use a case or not.
If they alter the antenna designs I will definitely get one.

Strange, isn't it .... I bought a Samsung phone on PAYG for £3 brand new .... and, unlike the phone for mugs, mine works!!! ![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)
I've no idea how much these iPhones cost - I just bet they are more than £29:99 - and don't even work as a phone!!!!

Make sure you hold it right though, remember what Apple says .....
1. take left arm and twist around right hand,
2. take right foot and rest on left knee,
3. crouch down so that the elbow of the right arm is touching the kerb and
4. ensure your head is touching a metal lampost - then make call

you still dont get it do you. Okay lets play along shall we.
Lets say I have some 'specialised devices' as you call them. Lets call one of them a sat nav, one of them a compass, one of them a nintendo ds, one of them a laptop, etc etc.
Now my iphone replaces all of them in something that can fit in my pocket.
So how much do all your devices cost + £3 for the crappy samsung ?

OK lets play a game I played as a child .... take 2 baked bean cans, attach a piece of string through the centre of both and pull tight.
You speak into one bean can and I'll listen at the other ... low and behold I can hear you - we have a good signal between ourselves.
Now, I understand that your iPhone struggles to do what the baked bean can does ... in that calls terminate randomly ... but, you say it can do e-mail, be a sat nav and sync to my PC (all items that I have in any case and are better than the iPhone at what they do)
The iPhone cannot even be used to store Baked Beans!
It's useless really, isn't it?

Pete, stop ignoring me, where's the picture of you sucking lemons, you can use the Camera on your "Other" device to take it as I'm sure your TingTong phone camera is rubbish.

I still maintain that a phone is no good if it cannot make and receive calls, even though it can connect to Geeks R Us online!

Some people will spend their evening telling people that dog owners are stupid, some people offer assurance that the Apple products they purchased were a good choice. One negative, one positive. I'm just providing some balance and if that upsets you then you should block me.

My Ericsson phone has a small vertical aerial, less than an inch and it suffers no signal loss. If I bother to switch it on that is.
My specialised device works very well too.

As good as any mobile phone I've used. Better than my blackberry when signal strength is marginal. Better than my wife's previous Nokia, I'd wager it's better than your £3 Samsung in like for like conditions.
That's based on personal experience, of course, rather than some attempt at sensationalism/trolling.
But then, you've been shown up, called out and generally shown to be full of excrement time and time again on this BBS, so this latest trolling attempt is no surprise

I'll help you along, the answer is, "YES"
By mentioning that fact which 99% of the worlds population accept as being correct, I'm an idiot? ...... hmmmmmmmmmmm .......

But I'm sure needing a 'special' way to make your phone work appeals to you, so, carry on - enjoy your 'special' relationship

If you want to point your finger purely at the iphone 4 then I would never have experienced any signal issue on that either as the first thing I buy for any mobile phone is a protective case.
So you just carry on being an idiot as usual
