I don't have to hold mine in a certain way either Pete

Did all your school reports say "must try harder"?

Funny .... everyone else needs to hold it in a special way, maybe your hands are so big that they ensure a good signal as they drag along the pavement

My school reports said, "Leave the **** geeks alone, stop making them blub"

Okay pete, PM me your number and I shall call you from my iphone 4
I say PM because obviously posting your mobile number on a public forum would open you to a torrent of abuse

No, Pete, not everyone else needs to hold it in a special way. Another fail

Yes, signal strength drops if I hold it in a manner that is unnatural for a right handed person - but it doesn't drop calls and therefore is useable with any grip in any orientation

Have you actually used an iphone (of any descripton) to make a call?

My Blackberry (you know, the worlds foremost business mobile communictaion device) shows a greater signal strength drop if held in exactly the same way. Yet no one gives a rats ***, because its not actually a problem.

Once again you are simply regurgitating "news" that's not actually "newsworthy" for the purpose of getting a rise out of people.

Not only is that rather pathetic and childish, its also against the T&C's you signed up for and what got you banned from here before, so keep it up

I don't want you breaking up on me all the time ......

I've put the number in square brackets so that only you can see it (a little trick my Apple Geeky has just told me to do)

Are you holding the iPhone right?

Left arm resting on knee, right palm on corner of phone, right ankle on left shoulder and right butt cheek on a metal contact area?

I've had an iPhone 4 since release day, and in all that time can't recall a single call dropping. If I hold it in a vice like grip I can make the number of bars reduce, but not so much so that I'm unable to make / receive calls or that there's a noticable impact on call quality. As such, there really is no problem with the phone, and it serves it's purpose perfectly well. This sentiment seems to be echoed by the other 99.5% of owners who have chosen not to return their handsets

I would echo what's been said before, the people slating the product typically aren't iPhone owners (who, with no personal knowledge or experience of owning an iPhone, IMHO come across as 'media puppets') ...

... and those that seem to be offering a balanced perspective of the issue and whether it impacts on usability are the owners themselves (who, in the main, seem to be perfectly happy with their purchase)

As an aside, Jack / Swiss etc. your 'defence' of Apple is admirable, I can relate to what you are saying but it's becoming increasingly obvious you're wasting your breath, and like me (up until now) are best off not engaging in the argument. To be perfectly frank, who gives a **** what PS Lewis etc. think!?!? IMHO, it's best to leave them to think Apple has released a seriously flawed and unusable product, and carry on enjoying your iPhone.

... and I agree with the poster that says PSL is coming across as a complete retard on this thread (or words to that effect). To suggest that people that buy iPhones and other Apple products are all sheep is possibly the most childish / uneducated / immature / stupid remark anyone could add to this discussion, and makes me realise that any credibility you did have (which in the eyes of many posters is zero) is very much misplaced

The perceived reduction in the signal will depend to a large extent on the relative strength of the signal arriving at the 'phone.

PSL's comments are in the main known as "Taking the ****!" You have to have a sense of humour to get the full value out of his posts.
