[cynical mode] Of course, by mentioning "...4 hours..." upfront, then if it just so happened that the bolts came off easily in a few minutes, then would the garage revise down their invoice to suit......?! [/cynical mode]

4 hours is about right, i changed my entire exhaust system incl turbo and it took me nearly 5 hours i had to gas axe 2 of the bottom studs off the turbo that held the downpipe on and replace them coz they were rock solid.

the problem with changing up-pipes is as said above the bolts not coming undone, i have done a few up-pipes and the turbo does not have to come off, all that is need to create the space is simply jack the engine up a few inches and the up-pipe will drop down, one is a must is to change both gaskets and do not use and exhaust paste.
This is a job we are very familiar with and I don't know anybody that changes headers or uppipes more regularly. We have a fixed price of £75 and it doesn't matter if it is headers or uppipe or both. Typically it takes 3 hours. On occasion when everything goes like clockwork and using air tools you might be just over 2 hours but on other occasions it can take four hours, particularly on older cars and any car that has lived by the seaside for a few years.
