it's one thing to tell your drivers to "calm down..bag the points for the team" Chris... but another to tell your leading driver to pull over, have a cuppa and let the slower driver bag the win because he's had a better start to the season than you.
The Lewis/Button incident was sorted on the track... Lewis re-took the lead before the team told them to behave... so the true result was already restored before the team stepped in.

Agreed it's not quite the same and nowhere near as bad but it's still depriving the fans of seeing two cars race for the lead, who wants to watch 2 cars follow each other in procession? Who wants to see more proper racing and wipe outs like Vettel/Webber

agreed, but the old "whoever is in front after the last pit stopl" rule most teams observed in previous seasons seamed to work quite well... fair enough if it's the last GP of the season and one team member needs 3rd or better to bag the championship then no team mate alive would not "help" as much as he could.. but that's between drivers, not team orders from above.
is it time the teams were limited to one car per team then...? as a solution
The poison dwarf should like it... more cost cutting..maybe even Kia could be fielding a car by next season LOL
That'll stop this team orders rubbish

and does anyone else (while I'm currently on the soap box) think this "they deliberately do not put enough fuel in the the car to race at 100% the whole time " is just another ploy to give the teams more flexibility on the "slow down and let your team mate pass" using the tried and tested "conserve fuel" quote.... Because when the famous Lewis/Button incident happened lewis sprinted back up to race pace like a scolded cat for the remainder of the GP with suddenly no fuel issues at all...

How about we spice things up a bit and introduce refuelling, wide rear wings, KERS, traction control, 3.5 litre V10/V12's, active suspension, twin-turbochargers, ground effect side skirts, suction fans, gumball rear tyres, high level front wings, manual gearboxes, drum brakes, wire wheels and no seat-belts!

Exactly, they werent trying to get Button to over take Hamilton it was the case of bring it home. Pleased Button went for it, made for a fantastic few corners until Hamilton showed him whats what.

This has all be compounded by teams having to use gearboxes and engines in multiple GP's... who's going to let their drivers drive the cars at 100% for the last 10 laps if they've already secured a 1,2. When those engines/gearboxes still need to perform again in 2 weeks time.
F1's restraints have (in it's efforts to be more cost effective) created this problem.

Apparently Mercedes GP's Ross Brawn has told the Italian press that he is in favour of ending the Team Orders ban:
"Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn says the sport's authorities should reconsider the rule on team orders in the wake of the Ferrari controversy at the German Grand Prix. "The rule that bans team orders is not realistic anymore," he said.(Gazzetta dello Sport)"
That wouldn't be the same Ross Brawn who was in charge at Ferrari in 2002 when their unsporting team orders in Austria actually led to the ban being introduced in the first place then?
Funny thing is, he's therefore effectively just condemned his old buddy Michael Schumacher (38 points) to No. 2 status behind young now No. 1 driver Nico Rosberg (94 points)!

I believe that another stupid rule is that of no testing. I don't think that can save that much money in relation to the total costs of running an F1 team, and it means that the only way they can try something new is during the next private practice session for the next race.
The idea of F! besides the racing is to develop the cars to the ultimate of design possible and how can you do that effectively if you can't try it out before a race day. It is holding the teams back as well as design for the future.
