Many thanks for the positive comments - much appreciated

Its amazing that we have got these results using a "non-billet" turbo. Not many (if any) scoobs have made the same power using the same block/turbo on V-Power at same boost level.

The aim is once the final maps are carried out by Paul, the car will be tested out by him at Santa Pod in the very near future.

Paul Habgood - Think the motorbike man is somewhere in the i/c pipes....he ensures "vroom vroom" happens!

Although the above figures are from Zen Performance's Dastek rollers, the car was put on Surrey Rolling Road's Dyno Dynamics rollers earlier today. Figures on these will be put on here.

Looking forward to seeing the comparison Jag, should answer a few questions as well with regard different rolling roads.

Cheers Dave!

As an update -

We encoutered problems earlier in the week with my intercooler pipe and flange connecting the up pipe and headers! Basically lots of air leaks which is a big no no!

With a local welding firm in Addington and help of Tim Sizer (big time help!) we were able to rectify the problems to enable for the car to be taken to Surrey Rolling Road for a dyno run yesterday late afternoon.

A big thanks to Charlie @ SRR for being a top host!

The results achieved were (using the same maps Paul installed a week or so ago - he was unable to attend yesterday):

V-Power only :

631.2 bhp (Peak power @ 2 bar!)

550 lbs torque

Meth and Race fuel maps to be tried out next week so looking foward to it!

Think Charlie at SRR was pretty much surprised with this and said he has never seen anything like it before on V-Power given the spec etc....

Different indeed but consistent in that the car has made (from what we know) the highest figures on two different rollers for a 2.35 on a gt35/40r (Lateral Performance) using V-Power only and that using a non-billet turbo!

Jag, who fabricated your intercooler piping and how did it cost? Need to get mine sorted in the next few weeks

Mate, Chy @ Pennine Subaru carried out the fabrication work and was part of the overall build cost. He used the old set up but had to carry out some chopping and re-welding.

The problem with welding is its fine if you leave the weld bracelet on but polishing it down will eventually lead to cracks forming where the two pipes have been joined....as I discovered on mine. The i/c cooler pipe tend to warp and change shape at certain levels of boost - both happened on mine and sleepersy's scoobs, it ends up looking like beat up metal with dinks! You could consider having a more stronger pipe (instead of alloy) but you will still need to get something custom made and then question of weight etc.

You could also consider getting the Wiggins Couplings but there is still welding required with the ferrules.

There is a brilliant welder down where I am (South London) - they re-did mine only last week before I hit 631.2 at Charlie's SRR. Give me a call (mus has my no.) if you want me to put you in contact with them.

Just wanted to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to Paul B (Zen Performance & my mapper), Charlie (Surrey Rolling Road) & Mike Latimer for yesterday's 3rd round of mapping session - what a long day it was...so much to take in!! At one stage I had to cover my eyes!! lol!!

What a right pair we have here....do not underestimate the one on the right!

Quote by my mapper Paul @ Zen Performance from 22b :

"What a day!

I don't have the graphs yet and we'll have to wait for the patient Charlie to sort them out. But in the meantime I think we can safely say that the car is now the UKs most powerful daily driver Impreza, and is ready to give many tuner cars a run for their money!

Some stats.

634hp on V-power (up very slightly from lst time)
694hp on 20% meth at just under 2.2 bar
711hp on Sunoco 109 fuel at just over 2.2 bar.

Torque was held back on the race fuel by pulling timing and only running 1.8 bar after initial spoolup, it still made a solid 550ftlb. On 20% meth (which was mapped before the race fuel) we hit about 610ftlb at 2.1 bar.

It's very lively on the road and the road test on race fuel was quite amusing!

More details another day."

Daily driver! How does it cope with wet roads, traffic queues etc? Must be ballistic to drive. What sort of longevity do you expect from the build?

Not doubting the quality (mine has a Zen engine build/map but very conservatibe as I do 20,000 a year) just interested by what you mean by 'daily driver'...

Spot on Neil and yes it is used as a daily drive and even has Air conditioning in given the lots of Indian summers we have! Full interior with original wheels!

Just because someone owns a 600+ does not mean they will be driving it at peak power all the time.....this is where having a Syvecs (Solaris) ECU is very useful indeed!

Hi Jag,

Thanks for the compliments.......

This exhaust was our Trackday Friendly Exhaust maintaining the 3" bore with out baffles or reduced bore in any way, shape or form. I would say the exhaust has got to be one of the quietest true 3" systems on the market....

And if Carlsberg made exhausts..... could they do as good a job........

Another example Cobra Sport exhausts can deal with any power delivery........And keep the volume sensible ( If you want ? )

Many Thanks

Pete

well done jag/paul and to the others involved, incredible car and mapping, are you tempted with the billet wheel conversion? so a proper comparison can be had between the 2?

Thanks chaps!

Mus - Will speak to Paul about usage of Nitrous but yes we've set records on the 35r over the past 3 odd weeks....producing more than the bigger 35/42r! Pat Herborn was spot on going with the 35r and as Andy Forest has said do not underestimate them! Who am I to argue against these two?!

Hongkongfooi - No above figs are excluding Nitrous.

Alyn - without your help mate on the "jerry cans"..."jerry cans" we would have been in a spot of bother last Thurs!

Peter (Fai17) - What can I say mate...yours has already set the 10s time....

Peter/Cobra - Both your back boxes were used on the records we set and am very happy with the trackday system!

Rob - Re billet wheel....not sure at the moment. We still have a couple of bits to finish off on the mapping side. Any decisions on changing over to a billet will be made in conjuction with talks between Paul, Mark @ Lateral Chy.
