My 2p:

If people are claiming JSA, they should be requireded to attend the job centre 9-5 Monday to Friday. They can then be tasked with going out collecting litter, cutting the grass on roundabouts and parks etc, etc.

Rather than been paid cash they will receive a delivery of food every week, fresh food and Tesco Value range everything. No booze, no cigs, no Sky TV or PS3. If you want luxuries go and get a job to pay for them.

Kinda agree with your ideas Steve. If say people were required to be at the Jobcentre 9-5 will that be inside or out? I can catagorically say all the unemployed in S****horpe (where I live) would not fit into the Jobcentre grounds, never mind the building itself

Also, if these people are being tasked with doing jobs for their benefits (which I think is a good idea) then when would they be expected to look for work? Would this be on their dinner hour perhaps as not everyone has broadband internet at home.

Agree with the food thing as your second point although I would suggest that vouchers be given which are redeemable for certain items. This would save delivery costs.

Not really thought it through that far

Another one of my policies would be weekly drugs tests, any illegal drugs = no money
