The UN is reviewing security measures for its aid workers in Pakistan, after a warning of new threats from the Pakistani Taliban.
A US official said militants planned to attack foreigners delivering aid to the millions of people affected by the devastating floods in the country.
One Taliban spokesman told Associated Press that the presence of foreign aid workers was "unacceptable".

Sadly some elements with Pakistan are proving themselves to be a backward, third world country which is a real shame. Perhaps the government would spend their time and money better on dealing with the Taliban rather than playing with nuclear weapons and shaking their fists at India, ironically to please/appease the people some of who are now in a bad way!
Not saying we should not give if that's what we want to do but perhaps the people should take a long hard look at who is in charge and maybe change this...

It does seem a little odd to me that the Taliban are threatening to kill aid workers. I don't see how that would gain them support from the populace who wouldn't want their meagre supplies of food and water being cut off.

Dare I go back to my original post which rapidly took off into a general free for all ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
I had mailed the UK Gov't aid people about this and, to my surprise, received a response. This was quite lengthy but here is the relevant bit: -
"The usual response is for plastic sheeting (generally supplied as a shelter material) to be used for the collection of rainwater on a simple frame. Such sheeting has formed a major part of the Non Food Item (NFI) distribution within Pakistan. Allocations of NFIs are ususally combined to provide sets which will include a form of secure water container (such a bucket with lid or collapsible water container).
The bucket or container can also be used in assocciation with water purification tablets as well , to provide safe drinking water"
Their spelling, not mine![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
Well it's good to see that something is being supplied although a) I have never seen anything like this actually being used on the TV footage I have seen b) plastic sheeting, whilst better that nothing, is not going to carry/hold much water before it tears and c) if the sheeting is going to be used for shelter are they going to dismantle it and use it when it rains?
So I will pursue my thoughts on this. I am sure there must be other ways of doing this, perhaps a device that doubles up as a means of transporting food when families have to move.
