.... you still give to national charities, good man.
No, because you have insurance to rebuild your house and if you needed aid or a temporary roof over your head it would be provided.

Show me where I said that that other people who are also in trouble do not deserve my or anyone else's help.
You are making it up as you go along. You certainly cannot think of any way to justify what you are saying. An alien might even ask if you are part of the human race!

Yes. Or do you think its better for people to starve to death when they can not produce food due to over population. Desertification occurs when population increases over the land capacity to regenerate reducing food production and resulting in further starvation. Or die of disease from very poor overcrowded living conditions?.
All i am saying is deal with the issues don’t just give them money when you see a big TV worthy disaster as that seem a little two faced. You don’t see many welfare charities for Rats or Fox’s do you ? Why because their population is to large and deaths and diseases is life’s way to try and correct the balance.

You appear to have no sense of pity in you at all. You are only too happy to allow those people to die because by numbers you think it is all their fault for living where they do. Your solution is to stand by and allow them to die so that can get rid of an embarrassing problem! What about those who manage to survive. Would you send them on a one way trip to have a shower?
The people were making a living the way we used to do in this country once by working the land as best they can and also with their cattle. They were causing no one any harm and they were maintaining their existence as is their right. Are you saying that they caused the monsoon and the floods, do you think they had any warning that such a rare event might occur? Is it not obvious that people in an arid land will live close to a river-bit like the Egyptians living along the Nile? Where do you suggest they should live then, or do you consider that they have no right to be alive anyway?
If you really think, as you appear to, that they should be left to die off with no help from their fellow human beings just so that you can have what you think is a well ordered set up for your own preferences, then there is something seriously missing somewhere!

I don't think that is what Les is getting anyway.
Sitting back and reading this it would seem some people are happy/willing to give, even a little to help people who may be suffering in circumstances beyond their control, and you can't assume because this was the topic that those same people don't give to other causes on a regular basis anyway.
Topics like this get alot of different opinions, but I think why it has got heated is because some people have acted like it's almost their fault, or 'why should we give to this because of their government....' I think what has upset some has been the lack of humanity shown rather than whether money is put in.
I'll be honest, I haven't directly paid anything towards this particular disaster, not because I do not care, or feel sadness towards the people involved, but because I don't have a never ending fund to keep giving more when something hits the news. I personally give to charities year in, year out and being on a tight budget, I can't keep on adding more to that everytime something tugs at my heartstrings (if I did that, I'd literally be bankrupt). However, there is a difference between choosing what to give to directly and having no compassion, which has been an issue on this thread.
I would be more than happy for a bit of my tax paid to go and help these people out, as government aside, these are normal people.

Yes of course those disasters happen regularly. We all give help voluntarily or not via the overseas aid of one kind or another handed out by the government of course. I would not wish to stop overseas aid providing that action is taken to get it to the right place and not into corrupt leaders' bank accounts.
When it comes to individual greater disasters such as the one in question then I personally am happy to donate some of the cash in my pocket.

What a wonderful example of the thinking in today's broken society
Misspelt, ill thought through, factually inaccurate and selfish.
As has been pointed out if your house fell down you would get help. And of course you know that this wouldn't be headline news around the world
But if a million houses in your town disappeared it might be noticed
If you have any kids would you be prouder of them if they got a job at home in the mobile phone field or selling insurance for example, or if they went to work overseas to help others? And what do you think would provide more job satisfaction?

To all the the racists who have exposed themselves through their posts. Remember one thing you are all hypocrits without any moral fibre. You bear so much animosity and display arrogance to other races which you feel more superior over.
Ask yourself one question, if you are so proud to be British then why do you drive Japanese cars and eat asian food. You think that you are smart and witty with your feeble posts, yet in actual fact you have exposed how much intelligence you truly posess.
The reason why you can drive "their" cars and eat "their" food and then disrespect them behind their backs, is because you have wicked and impure characters'. Why you can't just appreciate people for being people beggars belief.
Everyone has the same blood underneath. Ponder at how boring life would be if we were all one race, with one type of food and one type of engineering. Yes imagine if Britain was the whole world over. Your life would then be full of misery and soulless.
