Say whatever you like guys, but this is a worsening crisis of absolutely epic proportions. Millions of peoples lives are at risk right now, we should just get the aid to these people as soon as possible. We can have a good old argument about who should pay for what afterwards!
I despair at some people on here; what the hell has Pakistans nuclear program got to do with whether we should help or not? There isn't a country on this planet that could deal with a crisis of this scale (ONE FIFTH OF PAKISTAN IS CURRENTLY FLOODED!!!!) The fact that their government has made some dumb choices is hardly the fault of the citizens of that country is it? It's just a stupid smokescreen some people use to justify not helping
'Charity begins at home'.......thats a bollox excuse made by people who almost certainly don't help 'at home' either. Charity may start at home, but it doesn't feckin end there!

But my neighbour once went to Thailand and said they were lovely people, so I had no problem sending £20 to charity and joining in with the 2 mins silence at work after the Tsunami struck.

We where discussing this just the other night and agreed that if the Wellingborough Road ever gets flooded and they are in trouble then we would be happy to lend them some kitchen rolls and a bucket and mop!

I could explain them, but I think it's pretty obvious what they mean to be honest Les. It has showed what some people are really like from both sides of the argument. Am i going to name them? no because i don't really think they will change their opinions.
For the record it wasn't directed at you Les, as you're one of the most balanced posters on this forum IMO. Not that you'd be worried what i think

Just seems to me that we should be prepared to help any country regardless if they suffer such a disaster since they are human beings after all and they should get aid without a second thought for their beliefs.

But (as I've said before) if it was Planet Earth Limited (i.e. a business) the first flood would've been analysed and mitigation would've been put in place for all other areas at risk of it as well. But as we're looking at things through through a microscope (country by country) it's happening time after time.

Why is it always Great Britain, why can't some other country pick up the torch of human kindness for a change? Lets face it, if we had a natural disaster who will help us out? Australia?

Yes I agree of course as i have already said that we need to be able to trust the the aid goes to the right place and not into numbered bank accounts. Too much of that going on in the past.
You are right of course Jamz, but that should not stop what we do to help.

The generosity of the British public in helping Pakistan's flood victims is "shaming politicians around the world", the head of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has said.

Fresh Prince of Pakistan - In downtown Pakistan, Born and Raised, In a mud hut where I spend most of my days, Chillin? out, maxin? scrapping for food, And shootin up Infidels outside of the school, When a couple of clouds, that were up to no good, Start soaking everything in my neighbourhood, We had one big flood but nobody cared, So we're all moving to England where we get free healthcare.
Sent by a friend of mine. Quite good if not wholly funny

Britain £30m. France £800k
Not quite sure what that tells us but obviously UK has historic links with Pakistan and over there they all speak a sort of Peter Seller's English
I suspect the floods attract far more media coverage over here.
Anyway well done the UK
