Did you get it done yet stiggy? I am experiencing the same pain with that pin. I had a set of brand new punches, chose the 3/16 one that the US site used for this, but couldn't get the inside pin out yet, let alone the outer (for which they used a 5/16punch). It is really hard to shift! I eventually had to drop the transmission cross member to get the best angle for the hammer to hit the punch. But even then the pin didn't move fast, and then the brand new punch snapped inside the outer pin! What a drag! So that's where I am now, car on stands on the drive, trans cross member off, inside pin half way out but with a bit of snapped off punch stuck in the hole behind it. I guess I'll try to drill out the bit of broken punch, and maybe the inside pin too. I soaked it all with WD40, I really hope I can get the inner and outer pins out easily tomorrow morning.

Stew at TFS http://www.tfsracing.co.uk/Home_of_TFS_Racing.html fixed it for me for a fair price, so glad to get that finished! What a relief.
This is the kind of job that could go very smoothly, but if it doesn't you are going to wish you'd gone to your friendly neighbourhood mechanic's.
Stew got the pin out and the (in the end) 2 pieces of broken off punch out without damaging anything, so all's well.

Yeah got mine done in the end, took about 3 or 4 very cold nights stuck under the car with a lot of swearing thrown in for good measure! My neighbours must have been proper pi$$ed off with me banging away till 11pm

absolute pig of a job on axle stands that I don't recommend attempting if u need the car usable anytime soon.

Still, it's done now, nowhere near as slack but by no means the best shift I've used.

Yours any better thoughto?

My bushings went quite a while back, and although I hated the slop to start with I really got used to it. Now my car feels weird again with the tightness of the new bushings, so I haven't got to like it yet. After a few weeks I'm sure I'll be pleased with it though.
