aarrgghhh...../must.get.some.work.done.soon
just can't not check threads out, it's getting bad that this is such a great site I can't stop myself...../must.resist
ok then:
I can see your point about the "been there done that", I am 35 married with 2 kids 12 & 11 & I know that when I am 60 I will have a 4 wheel drive, twin turboed monster.....I don't know where I get it from , no one else in my entire family likes performance cars, just me & the wife.....my son is nuts about cars as well & can quote most 0-60's & 100's etc
all this & I have never even been to a track day with my car or a meet. I was very tempted for the big one, but I will wait for a smaller one where I can meet some of the guys on here.
I love all performance cars whatever the breed & will no doubt move on from the scooby in a couple of years....mind you the STI 10 will be out then
after being on this site for the last 6 months or so I can see that people are very, very passionate about there cars, as I am myself, but obviously this thread has been a good "tounge-in-cheek" one & hasn't degraded like some of the others do
you think there are 10,000 members on here all with different cars, views lifestyles & cultures etc & we all do well not to kill one another
I digress......what were we talking about again??

Just to add my twopenneth.
Have not driven a Boxster S but have driven a Boxster back to back with my old MY00 turbo std (my sister owns the Boxster).
The Boxster is a great drivers car no doubt. I didnt run against the scoob but drove both cars over the same route which I know v well. The worst thing about the std Boxster was that it felt like it could do with more power which is a compliment. It definitely lacked the edge of the scoob. Undoubtedly the S would have that edge.
The biggest impression that I came away with after my little test was exactly the point the writer of this thread made. The Boxster was a great car that cost nearly 40k loaded up but walking away from both cars it was the scoob that did it for v marginally me for sheer driving. It had the turbo punch and extra grip that made haring round back roads that little bit better. It also cost nearly 20k less which just couldnt be ignored. Perhaps the S would have changed my mind.
As to which is faster - not wishing to fan the flames but I recall a Boxster S beating a P1 on Mira wet handling circuit many moons ago in an EVO test (although the P1 was judged the better car of course second only to a 550 Maranello).
Just to add, the s has been soundly beaten by the P1 in other circuit tests but the EVO test illustrates what a serious motor it obviously is.

I think your forgeting it's a boxster, when I first got my scooby I was chuffed as funk.Yes it silly fast but I'm getting a bit bored.
There's more to life then blasting about, you could get some piece of sh!te for a few grand and spend loads on modding it and it could be the fastest thing on the road, but that's not the point.
The Boxster package is a good one.Don't the looks, bagde and interior count for nothing. If your honest you know there do.You can tell where the extra money went when your in the Boxster.
Regards

bumcrack - I get your point & a few others have said the same, but £45k + for a car with 250bhp is not my idead of value for money.
By the way all of you take a look at my original post, all I wanted was 0-100 times.
I personally would NEVER have a rear wheel drive car but I think for the guys on here with a lot of cash then they buy them purely for summer & track cars, I mean which roundabouts in the UK do you know that will take a real wheel drive car going sideways with another motor in the other lane, can't really use the car in the wet, so it's a summer car only then ? for all our 2 weeks of sunshine.
Those who own second cars with rear wheel drive for summer & track use I can understand, but if it is your only choice of transport.
Let me think 4 wheel drive & a turbo....I honestly can't think of ever driving anything else without this as a prerequisite - as an only car that is.
just MY opinion of course, mind you I am normally right

I'm 29 and sometimes when I'm not sat in the scooby I think that I'm a bit bored, but I just drove it home and I still love it.
I don't about you lot, but when a program like driven for exmaple is on and there rattling on about how quick some new car is , I turn to the wife and say" our car is faster than that".I been doing it since I got the scooby and there is not much that it isn't faster than. Altough it's starting to do her head now.
The bread knife has the car sometimes though the day and at least twice a week she has raced someone or other. Today she has mostly been racing yellow BMW convertable's. I said did you beat it" of course I did".
I still love the Scooby
How sad!
