You say that (in jest?) but the radicals have no problem whatsoever in killing Muslims along with anyone else, just look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Another huge car bomb has killed 40+ men, women and children this morning.

I still find it odd that people assume that those who oppose the mosque are branded as radicals or fundamentalists. However, this seems to be the way of the world, anyone who opposes or stands against xy or z is branded as such with a view to maginalising their opinions and shutting them up.

Just normal people, Paul.

This is what they put, I just copied it from one of their status

If you think that putting up a mosque 600 ft from ground zero and having the inauguration on the anniversary of 9/11 is immoral, inhuman and a complete lack of respect for the memories of all that perished on that day and their survivors and that politicians are doing a grave injustice... to the fallen heroes, their families... ............and all the people of NYC, THEN PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THIS TO YOUR WALL12 hours ago

Perhaps the answer is to build a church, synagogue, mosques and assorted temples, maybe even a mini stone henge (for the pagans), that way no one can be accused of being unfair.

Only this does leave the atheists hanging, what do you do to please all???

How come then, the pagans 'only' get a mini stone henge. Are you gonna build the jews and muzzies 'mini' versions of their place of worship?? Whats your problem with pagans, do you want to burn them too? Makes you as bad as obama in my eyes!

You have a valid point, i think the answer is not to build any of them, a memorial would be the answer.

Looks like someone beat me to it. The best thing all round really Religious building probably best left out.

Obama is about the most unconstitutional president there's ever been. Honestly tidgy, the U.S.A has gone so far off course it's unbelievable. Although saying that, they did have slaves back then. The idea of the constitution was pretty much perfect except for the fact the 'rights' didn't seem to apply to Africans.

I'm sure one of the first presidents made it a crime punishable by death to create money that wasn't gold or silver... infact I'm sure it's in the constitution that money has to be backed by either silver or gold. Obviously that was done away with and the result is never ending inflation of worthless paper. That's just one aspect of the constitution that was trampled over, and there are loads more.

The likes of Thomas Jefferson said that every American had the right to believe whatever in whatever god they wanted, or even question the existence of a god.

Those bloody insensitive Muslims eh !

What, with the Americans pussyfooting around the world, keeping themselves to themselves, never offending anybody......

What is a reasonable distance from "Ground Zero" to build a Mosque, seeign as it is hallowed ground know, I assume no Muslims will be allowed entry to the new World Trade Centre based on this ?

Not that the Muslims are any better, take a look at the road to Mecca, us Infidels arent allowed to proceed to Mecca, whether we want to play Bingo or not...

This response on there had me chuckling

Before 911 I lived in Thailand, it was pretty apparent Muslims hated us and blamed everything on us. A bi product of 0 education and a century old cast system. When 911 happened my dad and I said they need to level the frikin place nuke em or thousands would die. America's rediculous hypersensitivity to racism caused this. Thousands dead now their giving us the finger. You asked for it stupid america, I go to school with idians their not all bad but most of them are.
And I bet he still has no idea why people think he's a fcukwit

It is a shame that the Muslims don't worship animals like the Hindu religion. That way you could build what you like, and just put a cattle shed on top.
Hence no more blowing up buildings.
Our troops could ride cows around Afghanistan, and you would have no more mines.

Life would be simple

I agree about the contradictions you mention. That is down to whoever wrote those scriptures and than again whoever it was who translated them.

That does not mean that a religion is wrong in itself though. The religion generally interprets those writings into a form which is supposed to be something one can understand. Once again you have to depend on someone's interpretation of course. I think that Christians tend to use what the Bible says as a guide but use their particular religion as an example to live up to as far as their existence is concerned. Quite possible to decide that you believe in a Christian God or all powerful being without any deep knowledge of the Bible anyway. If those beliefs encourage you to live a good life according to natural law, then their can't be too much wrong with that!

My point about extremists etc was that they usually have their own plans to follow for their own reasons which are not necessarily what the religion they profess to follow would advocate. They are happy to use that religion to influence its followers to do what they want them to do in order to further their own ambitions. Suicide bombers are the strongest example of course!

I had a conversation today with a yank and he reckons there is no way this mosque will be built as the Teamsters have instructed all its members not to work on building.
So these muslims will have to finf another site to develop.

Not everybody thinks (if you can call that thinking) or acts like that - otherwise that Muslim luvving niggra would never have made it to president now would he

The proposed site is in the middle of the financial district, no other religious/places of worship stand in this area as people go there to work and not to pray. It seems a little odd that there is sudden a need to build one considering its proximity to ground zero and its location in the financial district.
This is not a residential area.

Build it elsewhere then? The developer / owner / whatever has been offered another site & turned it down ...

Rumour is that it will open on 10th anniversary of the bombing
