Hard luck Pimmo mate.

Worst dream for that to happen.
Did they fix the brake issue before it happend etc? not a joke just an honest answer.

To be honest mate I have seen worse and seen them repaired.

Yeah Ali, I'm open to suggestions..

Ideally I want to buy one from someone on here .. my ideal car as I've said would be a classic either at around 300bhp or with a few choice mods and the lower price letting me make the changes ..

My Scooby was 280 so I don't want a slower one ..

Yeah, I know what you mean. I suppose it depends on if you want a car thats already had the work done or have a standard one as a base car to modify at will.

Are you going to take any bits off the old car?

What category of write off is it? Mine was a CAT C which meant it could be fixed up and put back on the road after an inspection. I bought the car back off the insurance company for 10% of the value (4K), so i paid 400 for it. I sold it on to someone who worked in a body shop and made a over a grand profit. My car looked similar to yours.

as above, i think if you really liked the car, you could get it on the road for a good price, with the help of people on here for second hand parts, it could be on the road for next to nothing.

there are 1000's of cars that have crashes and are put on the road, obviously not all done to the same standard, but its your car, just an idea. i know sometimes its best to start fresh, but you might not get as good a car for the money the insurance company have given you.

good luck with whatever you choose,
