Camel spiders are savage! Was in Oman in 2001 and they were everywhere! They make a squealing sound when they run! A few of the lads went hunting them and had to smack it with a shovel 3 times before they killed it! Caught a few for 'King of the Ring' with scorpions, ah the good old days!!
My mate caught one in a box when he was on stag and brought it into our tent in the morning, kicked the box over the little barsteward stood with it's front legs in the air and legged it! So did a few of the lads too![Lol1](images/smilies/lol1.gif)

My dad woke up in an Army tent once in the Sahara Desert to see a dirty great scorpion sitting on his bare arm. He had the presence of mind to flick it off rapidly before it could sting him!

But have since seen spideraway spray made from conker extract...apparently they hate the smell of it.
Got lots here at home...they love living around the wood beams above....not keen on them either

I really hate those big house spiders, we get a lot like that. I'd actually rather hold a tarantula than a large house spider, I don't know what it is about them, I think it's the way they move. I carried my boy up to bed the other night and there was a monster on the wall over his cot, I had to lower him in as my head ducked down past it. I stood there thinking of what to do as it eyeballed me..

one of these little ******* crawled across our front room carpet and up the wall behind my arm chair last night, i havnt sat in the same chair since, it was fookin huge and im sorry, but anyone who says there aint poisonus spiders in this country is lying, there aint no chance they have found and tested every species of spider in the country, so until they have im steering clear of anything i suspect may be!!!!
i feel your pain maggy, horrible little ******* and almost on the same par as wasps, dont get me started on them *******s though, id be here all night!!!!

We get these where we live, they are very fast, squeeze thru very small spaces.
The bite is "painfull" - but i've never been bitten, as yet.
Adults tend to be the size of a medium sized adult hand with fingers spread apart.
It's called a huntsman....taken in our bathroom.

I think I'm going to cry! ![Freak3](images/smilies/freak3.gif)
Last night I found three hairy legs at the bottom of the stairs. Rosie (our cat) must have had a snack earlier. As for conkers..........we have a house full of them! New ones will be ready soon.

Not got 'em in my house, just red backs, white tails, wolf spiders, orb weavers plus the occasional visit from stranger looking beasties such as

Had a monster spider yesterday morning, same type as the one in your wineglass (made me foofin jump when I saw it).
Got the measure out, its body was approx 22mm long and the legs spanned a diameter of ~125mm and I swear its bl00dy huge eyes were watching me measure it.
Both dogs that normally eat spiders/flies etc wouldn't go near it (wimps) so got the misses to get rid of it as she didn't want me to squish it on the wall. So just just grabbed it with her hand and threw it outside! Wouldn't of got me picking that thing up!

Ones we have (or had) in our house were about 3 inches in size, real big buggers, even the dog left those alone lol, think they had babies
so smaller ones around now, hope they go up the chimney and stay there (or fall out when the fire is lit
) you are always seeing something out of the corner of your eye (and they dont half move!
They keep the fly population down though which is good![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

The scale on the US marines picture must be a camera-angle trick, if you believe wikipedia:

If you look at the guys sleeve holding it and compare that rather than the blokes leg.
