Newbie just had a remap

Just get a 3" exhaust and a bigger turbo, you'll only need one in the end anyway. No matter what you do you always endup wanting more. Look at arf wi 600 odd bhp and still not happy.

that will be the plan. bigger turbo but not too big, don't want too much lag. i'll have to put the k&n typhoon back on and have it remapped.
the question is, would the gains I'd get from the above be much different from what i'd get if i changed my 2.5" exhaust for a 3"?

ow i'm happy mate,i ant bin this happy in years.the car still makes me smile everytime i get in it.its just that i have a big tub of methanol sat in me shed and an ecu that will run 2 fuel maps so i think it will be rude not to get a meth map put on it.roll on the end of the month.

at the level you are at now, just by changing the exhaust to 3in from 2.5in will be hardly noticable.you have to set yourself a figure that you want to go to then you know the mods you need to get there.if you are only wanting to go to around 400 then i would prob say the exhaust you have will be ok so spend your money elsewere like headers, injectors and turbo.if you plan on going further than that then it would probably be best getting a 3in system fitted aswell.
i've had a read around and it seems like the standard STI TMIC and injectors will run upto but not safely above 400bhp.
ideally i wouldn't want to change the TMIC because that is one of those items that has to be declared to the insurance and mine doesn't like you changing that. they don't care about turbo back exhaust and intake too much remap upto 10% not too bad either but i guess that would be hard to prove if someone didn't declare it or at least they could say they were not aware of a remap Declared everything upto now
i'm thinking that 380-390bhp would be sufficient and hopefully safe if i can get the torque up a good amount as well. is this possible? what would i be looking at having to get? i know i'd need a new turbo but what would give me good torque and the required bhp without too much lag?

if pay day doesn't come round soon it'll be going slower than 2 mice in a hamsters wheel
good job i don't pay a mortgage, spent £800 over my budget on the car this month. come the 24th and everything will be back to normal and I'll be able to start driving properly again

Spot the difference.....
yes i finally got round to putting them in the oven. let me tell you now, it is not as easy as people make out. if i ever crash it i just hope the lights survive so i can salvage them.
i put the bulbs between some clean cotton so they wouldn't be damaged. bloody cats must have been playing with them while i was watching the oven because the dipped headlight bulbs needed replacing. and no i didn't realise until i had refitted the lights which meant they had to come off a second time.
a couple of pictures below from when i was performing the operation
just in case this is useful to anyone. ordered a set of silver/chrome indictators from click-parts.co.uk, only £7.95 with free delivery. they seemed like the cheapest around.

i did mine with a heat gun rather than putting them in the oven.if i had put mine in the oven i would have probably forgot about em and come back when they were a molten plastic mess.

Took me the longest time removing the lights. Is it iust me or once you have take the lights out those 2 metal clips don't hold as tightly. They click back in firmly but the 2nd time I went to remove the lights I didnt need to use nearly as much force to pull them out.

A heat gun is much quicker and less chance of melting lens. Looks better if you black'em too, I did that second time. Also it does no harm to give a run of clear silicon as a back up too.
